Same problem here...
I use a IR remote to change channels and I am trying to plug a USB keyboard to go to SETUP and than Recalibrate the stylus...

I have a LF-X11 model and the touchscreen is also totally dead. I never knew until today that you can use an IR remote to change the channels - channels became a real hassle when cable went to digital and had to throw a box on there. Don't know how far off you are, but if you can get on the web with it, there might be hope, The following took me 30 minutes to achieved, with all the mistakes between selecting and refreshes. Touchscreen Stylus Calibration was so far off the map. it was very hard
to use, Only Half the Screen height could be affected. I finally
attempted to reinstall the firmware update and a message during step 2
said I did not need it because it was already present. Tried it twice
with same results. But Good News, It ressetted My calibration in the
process. My screen is now calibrated again.
As stated on the site IMPORTANT: This update can only be downloaded and installed with a LocationFree® unit.
PS. It is very hard to define were to press to do anything on Sony support site, I was for the most part off by 2 inches, You will often Have to scroll to the bottom of the page I managed to select:
Software Drivers Option 1 (I managed to select Canada, Then it reloaded th page Then I Selected LF-X1) Then hit Continue ( Not Easy )
Then got transferred to the download page, Agreed to conditions and finally reached the updating step screen as stated above.
Log into your LFP's settings page by entering the players IP address
into your web browser. Then scroll down to access control and enable
"Access via Global IP Address". It should start working right away

the difference between tv and av, is that av has no showers on the screen. if you change to av you will notice a blue screen, connect your yellow on vedio output and white/ red on audio out of tv
note- before connecting to a vedio touch a tip of your vedio cable some lines will show on your screen, if touch your audio tip harming noise will sound on your tv. if this two happens then you know that your cables are okey. hold your channel button on your tv, channel will start runing after all rf channels finish, tv will go to av.
I have one for sale that works - practically giving it away.
