Question about Oreck Vacuums
I had the same problem...kept pushing the reset button on the plug, but continued to shut off. Took it to my local electrician, who removed the plug w/reset and replaced it with a regular plug...works fine now. Must've been a short in the reset part...sometimes simpler is better! Cost me $7.00, lots cheaper than a new machine or the $100 repaire quote from oreck!

Sounds like the Oreck is clogged. You'll have to undo the bag by the way of the clip in the middle at the back of the main black spindel neck and then at the bottom. Then take apart the main neck by pushing the rubber mounts upwards to release the pip fitting locks and holes. You should find that either the top of the neck or the bottom - where the dust channel feeder is located - is clogged. Either that or there may be a clog in the main dust channel after the roller brush or wedged into the fan unit itself - the Oreck XL is a dirty fan system which means clogged dirt can often get stuck between the dirt and the dirt channel.

The hose leading from the tank to the sprayer head on the bottom of the unit, or the tank is not seated properly or the tank has a hole or crack

take the clean water tank out and look on the bottom for a fitting that screws on make sure its tight.also inside of that fitting trhere should be a washer or an oring to keep it from leaking.if thats not the problem then your pump mightbe leaking.for that i would take it to a vacuum repairman.i hope i have been of some help.please leave feedback

I have an Oreck vacuum. My son used it just earlier today and it worked just fine, then just a little while ago a tried to turn it on to vacuum our bedroom and suddenly it won't turn on! I tried plugging it into other outlets but it was no use. My husband takes a look at it and first thinks that the switch is out in it. He takes the handle apart and quickly realizes that it is not the switch that is causing the problem. Then he took the base of the vacuum apart, removes the spin brush part and cleans it off, puts it back together, and suddenly it works! He said that when those brushes get real dirty the motor gets clogged, then it just won't turn on. I'm just happy I married someone who can figure these things out, because even if I knew the problem I'm still no good with a screwdriver, taking things apart and putting them back together again. Hope this works for your Oreck too and it's running again for you soon.

It is not the pump. If it sprays on rinse the pump is fine. An easy test is to plug in the accessory hose and the spray nozzle hose. If it shoots liquid, there is no pump problem.
You have a bad solenoid. There are two solenoids that control water/solution flow after the pump. A gravity solenoid and a pressure solenoid. The acessory wand byasses both solenoids which makes for a good test.
If you are getting rinse water then the gravity solenoid is fine. If you are not getting solution then the pressure solenoid is bad. Part number 25686056, 14 bucks at ereplacementparts.com. Is not a big deal to replace if you are comfortable tearing apart your carpet washer. Its the solenoid on the right side of the cleaner if you are standing in front of it.
