Ricoh has the manual online. The scanner wants to scan to a folder that has been SHARED, on a computer somewhere. This setup happens easiest by accessing the printer from a computer, rather than the input pad on the machine. the address will be similar to http://192.168.xx.x/web/user/en/websys/webArch/mainFrame.cgi, and this address goes into the address bar (NOT search) of your browser.

The directions in the Ricoh manual will give you the specifics....

The FB320P is a parallel port scanner and is having problems communicating with the computer. Are you connecting it directly to the parallel port on the computer? In that case, you may not have bi-directional communication enabled. Turn off the scanner and the computer and disconnect the data cable from the computer. Turn on the computer and enter the BIOS. (Press Esc, F1, F10, or Del repeatedly after you turn the computer. You should see a screen with the correct key to press; it varies depending on your BIOS and motherboard. If you miss the timing, shut down the computer and try again.) In the BIOS, search for the parallel port settings and see if you can enable bi-directional communication.

Not all parallel ports support bi-directional communication. If you can't enable the feature, you need a different parallel port. Try a PCI slot add-on card; just check the features and check the manual for enabling bi-directional communication.

If you are using a USB to parallel port adapter, get a different one that supports the bi-directional communication.

What OS are you using? There are a few that had ASPI driver issues; a third party app, ForceASPI, may help. See for information.

Why doesn't the scanner feature work??

What error do you get? What OS is the computer running? Is the scanner lock in the unlocked position? The switch is just below the control panel on the left. Do you have the full-featured software installed? Software is available at, just choose your OS. Try a new data cable and a different port. Is the printer attached to the network or used as a local printer via USB? With USB, a bad cable will get the scanner to fail since the scanner requires bi-directional communication. The full-software is needed for most OS versions, not a generic driver. The scanner uses a TWAIN compliant driver for most OS versions but the software includes a WIA driver in Windows XP.

Printer works but scanner does not how do i install

First, make sure you have the full-featured software installed (for older OS versions) - see here:

Second - how is the printer connected to the computer? If you are using a USB cable, try a new USB cable and try connecting to a different port. If you have a USB hub or print server connected between the printer and the computer, try a direct connection. Scanners require bi-directional communication and are more sensitive to data loss issues than the basic printer features.

Did you install the full featured software or the generic drivers from the OS? What OS do you have? Get the full software here:

Depending on the OS, the generic driver may not support all of the features of the all-in-one. (That's why the directions say to install the software before connecting the printer to the computer.)

Other issues: Try a new USB cable and plug it into a different port. If you are using a print server or USB hub, try directly connecting to the computer. The scanner requires bi-directional communication with the computer and thus is very sensitive to anything that could interrupt that signal.

What OS are you using? Do you have the full-featured software installed? Does the computer see the device properly? Scanners are extremely sensitive to anything that disrupts the bi-directional flow of data. So try a new cable and plugging into a different port (if using a hub or print server, connect directly to the computer). Try initiating a scan from the computer and see if that works.

If you do not have the full-feature software, the buttons on the scanner will not work.

go to scanners and cameras in the control panel and double click on your scanner, you should now be able to use your scanner directly without using Kodiak's software.

Acrobat and Canon DR-9080C not working

You are right, it is driver related issue. Acobat 9 has more features that may not be compatible with the existing driver. may be you can use CapturePerfect and directly create PDF and then use the Optimising features of Acrobat 9. Ofcourse you have to do it twice, but you can use the 'batch' process and do it automatically.

Hp psc 2175 scanner problem

Firmware problem with unit or a stuck keyboard. This is commomn on the PSC series which includes full scanner head failure. Unplug unit from computer to see if it will do it with no cominication to PC.
