despite a port on the motherboard for the back-lite option, not all motherboards actually have all the supporting hardware. Those that do, but aren't equipped originally with the backlit keyboard typically haven't installed the basic drivers to operate one.
start by opening: [control panel]>[system]>[device manager] and select 'search for new hardware'
sounds like you dont have the drivers installed. did it come with a disk, if it didnt then id have a look on there site for drivers to downloads and install.
You need to look online for "Free drivers" for the keyboard. You should be able to easily download the driver and hopefully that will solve your dilemna.
THE KB MAYNOT BE SUPPORTED BY THAT MANUFACTURE, FAILITY PLUG IN OR DEFECTIVE WIRE THAT RUN FROM THE KB OR THE DRIVERS ARE NOT CORRECT FOR THAT CERTAIN KB.
I'd go to the Genius website, click on "Service & Support"; "Drivers". In the "Select Product Line" pull-down box, select "Keyboard & Mouse Combination". In the "Select Model" pull-down box, select "KB 600 Black." Scroll down and in the "Select Platform" pull-down menu select your operating system & then click on the "Download" link.
You can also do a Google search with the following search string: "genius kb 600 driver".
Not sure if any of these will work. The first one is 51MB in size; the second is from the UK and is 600KB; the last link is to the DriverGuide website and is 4.6MB in size.
You best bet is to go to the manufacturer's web site & get the driver(s) directly from them.
