The outer control is no longer conneted to th inner control on the board. The phone needs to be opened up and the connections soldered together.

Sound volume when remote button is pushed will not stop up or down unless another button on the remote is pushed. Volume works fine when buttons on the TV are pushed.

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing each button on it at a time; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.

Technics SU-G91 volume control does not track when turned and +/- numbers/volume shown/heard.

Sorry. I haven't looked this model up, but I have your answer. I'm going to assume this unit is less than 10 to 15 years old. They no longer use, the type of volume control you think of. You can proof this out, by turned the knob left or right. It should probably have no stops, as you remember. That's because this is not a volume control, as in variable resistor. It is called a Rotary Encoder. It is basically two switches that are pushed when you turn the control to the left or right. This creates pulses(actually a high or a low) which go into the display microprocessor(one of the computers inside your unit). When the microprocessor control receiver this input, it controls another IC, called an Electronic Volume Control.

Sorry for the lengthy explanation. The issue lies with the Rotary Control. This is not an uncommon issue for any of the manufactures. This is not a DIY repair. It will require a professional Audio tech. If you need more assistance, or would like to inquire about a repair, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Volume increases to 100 or drops all the way to 0 when pressing the volume button on either the remote or back of the tv. I can't control the volume I want.

Keyboard issues and answers:
A problem that is more common than most people think is anissue with buttons on the controlkeyboards of modern TV sets.
Recently for whatever reason I have seen more questionsabout this so I have composed this answer and solution for these kinds ofproblems. It can be any button on the set-channel up/down or volume updown-you name it.

The symptoms are the same: channel will scan up or down andwill not stop-remote control has no effect on this---It can be channel, volume,or even input or menu if the set has those up front or on the side of the set.

All these push controls have something in common-beneatheach is a tiny momentary push switch-when pushed with the plastic button itperforms a specific task (vol up or down etc.).

What happens is the afflicted switch beneath the plasticbutton is bad-when released it is supposed to stop its function but does not.

Keyboard or button controlled features have PRIORITY over the remote control, hence the remote will not stop this fromhappening.
Both the remote and thekeyboard go to the microprocessor in the set but keyboard is first in line.

How to resolve this issue?

Someone needs to get at the tiny pc board with the buttonsand locate the one associated with the issue (ie sound or channel etc) andunsolder that switch from the board-usually just two pins (may be more formounting only purposes) and then see if set does not have the issue with switchout of the circuit.

For the TECH minded with the board out test here theswitches with a ohm meter set to high resistance-any reading with button notpressed means a bad switch-seen ones that read 5,000 plus ohms-it may benecessary to unsolder more than one switch to locate the offender here but an open reading with switch not pressed is therule.

I have taken the time to compose this answer as some do notunderstand what is happening in these types of situations---No magic wand orsmoke and mirrors here-have to disable the offending switch to know.

The beauty (in my view) of this kind of problem is if found, you really do not have to replace anypart-just operate the set with the remote with one button that no longerfunctions on the set itself-who could ask for more?

I have located the volume control button on my monitor but every time i pres it it decreases the volume. I need to Increase the volume not decrease it. Help

You've failed to mention the make/model of your monitor. There should not be a single button for volume control, as volume control is either up or down. Try the button above the one you've been pushing.

Harman Kardon AVR 500: randomly accelerates volume levels.

The problem is with the actual eltromechanical element on the volume control, my avr 300 does this as well and I'll let you know the secret to avoiding it. There are small indents on the volume control as you turn it, if you leave it half way between indents, it will periodically start reading volume changes, if you're lucky it will go down, if you're unlucky by the time you've noticed it act up your speakers are blown. When you change the volume, make sure the control rests in an indent and the problem will never crop up again. A simple solution if you're the only one that uses the receiver.

LXI TV-menu options keep scrolling. How do we stop this?

I believe pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons at the same time is what puts the set into demo mode. (It might be CHAN UP and CHAN DOWN at the same - been so long I'm not sure, but I think it's the volume buttons.)

36a43 volume goes up and down buy itself

I had the same problem with my 36A43 also. I found by pure accident that if I pushed and held the MENU button on the front of the TV that the volume quit going up and down and I could control the volume with the remote. So far it is working all I did was jam 2 or 3 tooth-picks in beside the MENU button to hold it in and it is working so if this helps you any good luck its a cheap fix for an old TV
