Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Walk in freezer solenoid not opening

Many Kenmore side-by-side refrigerators have an ice and water dispenser installed on the outside of the freezer door. The ice dispenser has a flap that opens to allow ice to be released, and closes after dispensing to keep the cold air inside of the freezer. The dispenser flap is opened and closed by a solenoid, that when energized pulls the plunger attached to the flap, opening the door. If the flap stops opening and closing, it is likely due to a faulty solenoid.

I have an old GE fridge with ice maker in freezer, water started leaking and flooded floor of freezer and started leaking outside freezer. What's going on & how do I fix it?

I think you need a new fridge/freezer. Look for offers now on sale some are quite reasonably priced and home Depot has interest free credit.

I have a Jenn-Air refrigerator, Model JCD2389DE, and in the last two weeks we have noticed water puddling on the floor in front of the "freezer side" door. We thought maybe the water dispenser...

Mine did this a few years ago. I had to call service out to replace the system board. I guess it's a common problem. Something on the board fails and the defrost operation does not work properly, resulting in rapid meltdown of ice build-up and puddles on the floor.

Water is not working

You have two points where you can check the dispenser water. At the rear where the water supply comes in is the water inlet valve. If you disconnect the dispenser water line and then see if the water comes out when you try the dispenser. You should hear the valve work when you try the dispenser. If you don’t hear it there is a dispenser actuator switch problem. If you do hear it but water doesn’t work here there is a valve or water supply problem.
If it's normal, disconnect it at the bottom of the freezer door and try again. If it's normal here it may be frozen in the door. If this is the case open the door till it thaws. A blanket over the opening will prevent thawing of all the food.

Freezer thaws and then Refreezes

Theory of operation: Cold air is produced in the freezer section and is then circulated via a fan located in the freezer section. It sounds like you may have either an air leak from faulty door seals, ice dispenser door flap stuck in the open position, or the light staying on the door is closed.
A faulty compressor fan may also cause symptoms like that but you should hear the thermal cut out clicking off and on due overheating of the compressor.

The water is leaking from the Ice dispenser and the food is thawing

Seems like the freezer is not getting cold enough. If the ice maker was leaking the water would freeze. It would not cause the food to thaw.

I have 25 cu ft side by side with water disp and ice maker, still makes ice but water is not dispensing though door spigot,,no filter on the water and no leaks or bends in the water hose. Any ideas?

. If you don't hear the water inlet valve on the back of fridge, the dispenser switch is bad.
You have two points where you can check the dispenser water. At the rear where the water supply comes in is the water inlet valve. No water from dispenser

The water line was frozen. We turned the freezer back to setting 2 and opened the freezer door for two 5-minute intervals. Leaving the freezer door open, we time another 5-minute interval about 30 minutes later. And no....nothing thawed out in the freezer. When we tried the water, it worked! And much faster than before. We did not mess with the bottom of the fridge at all. About 2 hours later, we returned the freezer setting to 5. This morning the water is still flowing! Thanks for the tip and for saving me a $85 repairman bill. All of the tips were very helpful.

Internal water dispenser stopped working

I lowered the temp on the freezer to 4 overnight, by morning water dispenser is working fine. I think that when we changed the temp to 7 (in order to make more ice ) it froze the water pipe going to the dispenser. I am going to keep both fridge and freezer at 5 ,and hope this will not happen again.
