Try to run this MS Fix - there is a link about half way down the page that says 'Fix this problem'.
Then try to reinstall the KB.

A lot of people had issues with that update.

Windows xp sp3

> Windows XP SP3

This is "Service Pack" (a large collection of security-fixes) number 3, to update Microsoft Windows XP (not Vista, not 7). Just install it, and then access http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com to get all "post-SP3" security-fixes -- this could be around 100(!) fixes, since SP3 was released, a few years ago.

After i install manual windows update (KB975558), it says "failed to install catalog file", then what should i do for this problems ???

There are a few options to try in this Microsoft Support page:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975558/

Pay special attention to the VERSION NUMBER of the files mentioned in that page, comparing them to the ones you ave in your machine.

Hope this info may help you!

Need a key for windows xp service pack 2

The Microsoft "Service Pack 2" is just a collection of program-updates and security-fixes for either the "original" Windows XP, or for Windows XP with Service Pack 1 already applied.

As such, it does _NOT_ require any "key".

Note that it's probable that Service Pack 2 will _NOT_ install on a "bootleg" version of Windows XP (original or SP1), because the SP2 update includes the Microsoft "Windows Genuine Advantage" update.

Does windows always have this problem? I think it can be fixed through a computer check up. Might want to have a good look at the website http://www.pcaholic.com.
