the charging system runsfrom a stator which is underneath the flywheel and runs to a rectifier/regulator module and to the battery. it will power the blades if it is an electric clutch system and also the fuel plunger system on the carbuerator

You will need to replace or clean the air filter, and probably the spark plug. Do not operate the mower for some hours to allow the oil drain (inside the engine). Check oil level and fill it if necessary. Some oil remaining in the exhaust should be burnt next time the lawnmower operates.You will see smoke at the beginning, that will be normal (burnt oil). Check out this Briggs and Stratton manual and see if it helps you sort things out:
Usually alternator wires are red and black. They also have an AC output that goes to a rectifier to make DC.
This is the standard B&S ignition:
White wires can be for headlights or ignition kill. WHITE / Light wires usually come from the battery positive post.
