Hi
I don't know how to manually do it. Please download this link click here. Just click on the blue name PRINT DIAGNOSTIC UTILITY.
Download, unzip and install it to your computer and then run the diagnostic utility and it will fix errors in just a second.
Then restart your printer and computer and try to print again.

I believe system error 5 is that you are not the administrator. I suggest you run the administrator privilege. And run the solution 1 & 2 I give you because is preventing you to do this solution.
If the two solution I gave not working, please try to download and install this to your computer.

It sound silly but please let someone help you to manually restart the spooler which i provide solution 1.
Also, can you please check the printer icon by going to the printer and faxes if your computer is not offline (not connected to your computer) and also, try to check all the cable connections that might loose up.
For C:drive to view. Go to MY COMPUTER and there is C: drive there. click on the C:drive and choose the WINDOWS>SYSTEM32>SPOOLER>PRINTER AND THEN DELETE ALL THE PENDING JOBS if ever.
Then go back to DOS COMMAND and type cmd and then type the "NET START SPOOLER".
If you do not know, skip the C:drive procedure and just type "NET START SPOOLER".
Go to START>RIGHT CLICK ON COMMAND PROMPT AND RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR>THEN TYPE THE CMD
Because if you don't do that, SYSTEM ERROR 5 WILL APPEARS THAT YOU DO NOT RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Another is follow this steps when you are in the COMMAND PROMPT.(You can found this at START MENU and choose command prompt or dos prompt.
When you are in command prompt, please type this CHDIR C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
THEN FOLLOW SOLUTION 1 I provided.
Go to START MENU
Choose Commamd prompt, right click mouse and run as administrator (You should be in this command C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32- If not type this command when you in the dos command prompt "CHDIR C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEMS32 and press enter")
Type the letter "cmd"
Type the word "net stop spooler"
Exit
Go to C: drive
Choose to Windows Folder
Click show content
Choose system32 folder
Choose spool folder
Choose printer
And delete all printing jobs pending
Again go back to CMD window and type the word "net start spooler"
Restart your computer and must also turn off your printer and then switch it on.
It will work fine right now
I hope it helps you

Usually answered in minutes!
sorry, I'm lost
system error 5 access denied
I can't do it..nothing matches up to instructions and it only mentions HP printers. I'd rather do nothing than screw it up more. Forget it. If I've lost my $12 it's my own fault.
downloaded the last thing you said to try and it's been running for half an hour "diagnosing additional problems"...I think it's stuck and about another 15 minutes and I'm going to give up. I should have had the Geek Squad come out to check it. The first things you said to try, I don't know what you meant by Go to C:drive....color me stupid, but none of it makes any sense...sorry
While trying one of the last things you told me I got a message the diagnosis was done...they gave me a couple steps to do. I had to back up and put Net Start Spooler (lucky guess) and it's working now, although a little stop-and-start. I'll take it. I thank you for your patience and will keep everything you gave me should it happen again. I don't understand it all, I'm just glad it's back. Thank you very much for all your help....Carol Pressell
Well, I just printed out all your instructions. Yea! Life is good.
Problem eventually solved. I'm new to computers and my helper was very patient. I appreciate the help and will keep all my instructions in case it happens again.
Forgot to ask. Do you why that happens and should I expect it from time to time?
