SOURCE: home stereo audio problems

I've had some progress, have tried 2 different amps and 2 different mixer now... The weird thing is, if I plug a turntable directly into the receiver, everything is great.  Once I connect the record player through a mixer and then to the receiver, I can get sound, but its really bass-y and buzzy and essentially just terrible... Such a weird problem...

SOURCE: cant connect my Numark PT-01 to my Numark DM950 mixer

What do you mean it didn't work? What happened? Are you getting no sound, did the plugs not fit? Please be more specific.

If you are not getting any sound, make sure you connected to the LINE input of the mixer - the PT01 has Line Level outputs, so you CANNOT connect it to the Phono input, as the signal will be too hot for the mixer - so make sure it is in the LINE INPUT. Also make sure the toggle switch on the mixer is set to LINE. There is nothing else to this set up, raise volumes, and that's it. It's very simple.

SOURCE: my numark tt200 turntable doesnt output anything

Have you replaced the cartridge? If you have it might be an internal pre-amp problem inside the deck.

Why won't both my turntables play out of my mixer?

I am guessing but it sounds like a gorse impedance mismatch. You should never connect two outputs together unless they are specifically designed for that. Since you are listing to mono why not send each output to the Base Amp the other to the cabinet. That should resolve the problem.

I put a new cartridge and needle in my fr-d35 and hooked it up to an amp and speakers but the only sound is coming from the turntable itself everything is hooked up correctly and im using the phono channel...

What you need to do is disconect the turntable from the amp and touch the phono connectors of the amp. You should hear a buzz on each channel. If you don't then the pre-amp for the deck inside the amp is faulty. If OK plug the turntable back in to the amp and remove the connectors to the cartridge. With the amp on - touch each wire end cartridge connector. You should hear a buzz on the left with one wire and a buzz on the right with another wire. The other two wires are earth and will not probably give a responce. Again no buzz and there's a fault in the wires that connect to your amp. Or a fault inside the turntable itself.

Why can't I get my turntable to sound right on my

Turn table? You mean like records? lol
The output of record players is different voltage than like cd players, etc...
Does your stereo have input for turntable or are you hooking it up to an extra rca input? I had mine hooked up wrong before and it did same thing.

I was just giving a technics record player sl 1700 and for some reason I get sound out of the record but it does not hook up to my speakers. It has the red and white av cables and I have hooked all that up...

We need to know exactly what you have for electronics to give a specific answer.

Old-school turntables don't connect directly to speakers. It will require a PHONO preamplifier either integrated into a receiver or stand-alone and external to boost and frequency-balance the minute RIAA output signal produced by the phono cartridge.

Numark tt200 motor

The knocking sound is NOT normal, and you should not ignore it.

The tt200 is a HIGH TORQUE turntable, and as such is a highly accurate lathe for the accurately determined speed of the platter.

The lathe is in need of adjustment, which is recommended.

Volume is low on my turntable

You have to amplify the output from your turntable output to the input of your amplifier. To do this you can buy what is known as a pre-amp. Radio shack probably still sells them.
Be sure to ground your turntable to your amplifier and not the pre-amp. This should stop any hum or at least diminish it. Bear in mind that your records will not sound as loud as your CD's. Hope this helps.

Speeds up and Slows down on it's own.

since you have a direct dirve, your motor speed control circuitry is likely failing. The only other chance is some dried up grease dragging on the platter and thus the motor but this is unlikely un such a young turntable.
It will probably be cheaper to replace than to repair this problem...
