My asus a8v deluxe does not boot at all. a while back i flashed the bios with a newer bios version from the asus website which i installed on a floppy disk.during the flash installation it had an error on screen so,i did the installation again & it seemed ok with no more errors on screen but, when the system was rebooted it was & still completely dead. so far i have tried removing the memory cards & putting them back in &,also plugged in another video card which i know works. another thing i did was to reset & clear the bios but still it doesnt boot. please have you got any ideas which may be of use.thanks.andy

Sounds like you have a brick on your hands you could try and RMA the board if it is still under warranty just don't mention the bios update....

Delet the old bios and start fresh, check the battery in mother board ,check the fuse, make sure your metal tower is clamed all the way down on black chip on mother board.if not it will over heat very quickly and shot down and no but not least check your coolent fan and also make sure thats clamped all the way down.

DVD drive appears in list of hardware on boot, but BIOS soes not see it as a bootable device, so I am unable to install the OS.

Sometimes you need to set it to slave or auto-select with the pins on the back. The computer can have only one master (your first harddisk) so the rest must be slave.

Restart your computer.
Press <DEL> to enter BIOS SETUP.
Look for "Boot" options, and change the "Boot Order" to make the CD/DVD the _first_ boot-device.
Save/Exit from BIOS SETUP.
Boot from the CD/DVD drive.

I have problem in asus A8V-vm motherboard in that hard disk is not detected in BIOS but Win-XP is working properly and when I tries to install new windows XP it shows an error that hard disk cannot be...

Asus A8V-VM Motherboard coming with SATA RAID option, thats why you could not see the detected HDD in system BIOS. But you can see the the detected HDD in RAID BIOS. You can enter to RAID BIOS that will pop up after system BIOS. If you are using old version of WinXP it will not detect the RAID controller of you motherboard. Thats why you cannot able to install WinXP. While you booting from WinXP CD press F6 key when the WinXP installer prompted for third party driver. Copy the RAID driver provider in driver CD to a Floppy Disk (INF file) and insert it, hit enter to continue the installation. If you are using WinXP Service pack 2 or higher you do not need this step it will automatically detect the HDD.

SIR I AM HAVING THIS MOTHERBOARD A8V-E DELUXE I HAVE 2 PROBLEMS ACTUALLY I BOUGHT THIS MOTHER BOARD USED. WHEN I PUT THE MOTHERBOARD BATTERY IT DONT BOOT UP I UPDATE THE BIOS ALSO. WITHOUT BATTERY IT...

You need the battery in for the bios to rememeber your settings, and things like the system date.
If your board has jumpers by the cmos battery, they jumper may be on the wrong pins.
You can download your chipset drivers from your support page, but if your sata ports still dont work, maybe this why it was sold.
Can you not take the board back for a refund if it is faulty ?

Can I use a Amd athlon 64x2 dual core processor 4200+ 2.2 ghz on my A8V deluxe motherboard . socket 939

Hi,

Yes, according to the Asus website specifications on the A8V Deluxe you are able to run the CPU. You just have to make sure that the CPU you buy is for Socket 939 and not AM2.

Please rate!

I have bios version 1008 on the computer. Should i update the bios version to the newest one? The fans are always running, they never shut down

Actually if your MOBO are working fine as of now no need to update the BIOS version. Updating BIOS version may affect some parts of MOBO so no need to update the BIOS version.

New ASUS A8V-MX motherboard will not boot to CD or HD with XP

The first thing is to make sure that your CD/DVD drive has the windows disk in it. Also check drive C which is where the windows will be installed. It may require that it is hard formated. Hard formatted means "format x /u" [format-space-drive to be formatted-space-right slash-u]. This will place the drive for "windows xp sp2", all of it, to one pass of zeroes. So, once we have a clean drive C and the installation disc is inserted into the CD/DVD drive, you may proceed to install. You will need to find "install" or "setup" and start it on he "RUN" mode. Video on an asus A8V-E deluxe motherboard

When you rightclick on MY COMPUTER then choose MANAGE, in the device manager, do you have another display controller appearing? if so, then you only have to install the drivers you've got with your new card, then in DISPLAY from the control panel, you will have to go to the SETTINGS tab and lightly move the second diplay then it will ask you if you want to activate it.
if there is no other display controller in the DEVICE MANAGER you should try to reboot and access the bios in witch you will found an option for selecting the first display controller to be used. so, choose PCI, and save, then reboot.
