Question about Dewalt DC925 Cordless Drill

I HAVE A MODEL DW004 24V CORDLESS HAMMERDRILL THAT HAS STOPPED HAMMERING. IT ONLY RUNS IN DRILL MODE NO MATTER THE SWITCH POSITION. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT COULD BE WRONG. SWITCH APPEARS AND FEELS INTACT.

Is the bit securely seated in the chuck? Does the drill itself feel like it is hammering, i.e. when you move the function switch from drill to hammer, does it feel any different when it is running?

Hi!!

The hammerdrill function is set by the selector switch, the switch itself may look fine from the outside, but, if it is not switching functions, you should open the hammerdrill and check the switching mechanism, even if you don't have an idea of how it works, after a visual inspection to the switching mechanism, common sense will tell you what's wrong, it is actually pretty simple.

Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Porter cable hammer drill 987 suddenly stopped running.

Push the battery in and out while pressing the trigger on the the drill to see if there is a loose connection here.
Check the battery terminals inside the drill and the battery terminals .These sometimes become tarnished and don't make contact. Clean with very fine sandpaper.
