Let's find out if it is the remote or the remote IR receiver in the TV.
Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

My Toshiba TV, Model 57HX81 quit responding to any remote control. How do we repair that or how much will it cost to have it serviced?

Does the rest of the TV work fine? If so, the problem is likely with the remote control. Have you replaced the batteries and made sure they are installed correctly? Did batteries recently leak in the remote to where the new batteries may not be making good contact with the metal springs? Has the remote been dropped a lot? If so, a solder joint may be broken for the IR transmitter.

If you have a universal remote that can be programmed to the TV model, that should make it easy to confirm if the issue is the remote or the TV.

Reset my Toshiba CT90300 control. Every button that I press comes up as a number 7. Can't get HDMI to work as jammed on wrong position. Also TV panel is locked so can't change manually

Do a reset to this TV and check. To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Toshiba TV 24V4210U remote doesn't work

If it is an original remote control to this TV, it should work even after replacing the batteries. If not works, check the battery contacts at its battery compartment for any rust or dust accumulated, which prevents proper contact to battery terminals. Clean the contacts well before inserting the batteries. If there is no such problem, check the infrared emission from the remote control. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
If it is a universal remote control, as soon as you take out the batery from its compartment, all the settings will be lost. You should reset it with its setup codes. For more information http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/Setup procedure, and setup code list to many popular remote controls are given.Pull up older posts.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Clean the battery contacts, inside the battery compartment, before inserting new batteries. Remote does not work even with new batteries. Pressing the keys on the TV makes the TV work.

I know this may sound silly but check first the new batteries are in the right way around, secondly some remote control have a TV/VCR switch to operate both equipment, make sure it is in the TV position (you did not mention the model of your TV, only certain models have this on the remote). If it still does not work the infra red sensor may be at fault inside the remote, you can take the remote apart & try to resolder it but it can sometimes be a bit awkward.

Remote control SENSOR not working

This could be a fault with your remote control. It will need checking by a Television Technician.

You can clean the remote control yourself if you are careful. You will need a spray can of Servisol IPA 170.
  • Carefully split the remote control unit along the seal between the top and bottom of the unit.
  • Carefully notice how you then dismantle the inner components. (I lay the components out in the order I take them out of the unit).
  • In a logical order spray, clean and dry each part.
  • When you have cleaned all the components, reassemble in their reverse order of the way you dismantled the unit.
  • Fit new batteries and test the remote control.
If this fails to solve the problem, you will have to take the remote control to a Television Technician for testing.

If the remote is found to be beyond repair, visit www.semenedis.com who may be able to supply you with a replacement remote control. I trust this information will be of help to you.

30HF85 TV with CT-877 remote, which doesn't work.

I had the same problem with my remote...over time it slowly stopped working. (sorry for poor terminology) I noticed that one of the battery terminals was corroded and that the metal connecting the battery to the board was completely gone. I simply swapped this out with one from another remote and now its working fine. Seems the only issue is that the battery was not connected.

I hope this helps.

Toshiba TV Remote Control not working

I have been seeing a lot of Toshiba remote "eyes" (the infra-red receiver inside the TV) fail recently. If several known good remotes cannot control the TV then the IR receiver will have to be replaced. If you have no experience soldering and unsoldering PC boards then have a qualified tech handle it for you.
