Well that does not make sense, the IR receiver is sending the signals to the Main board, and new Main board is repleaced but the remote still does not work but the controls on the TV work. It just does not add up. Power supply is OK?
Please keep us up to date on this strange symptom.

I have a sharp LC-37D40U that will not power on. The power light blinks 1 time every second. I held the input and volume - button while plugging the TV on and the TV cuts on and then cuts right back off,...

OK if you have blinking red light.

Try to open the cover then disconnect the inverter board after that try to power it on again..

If the light stays in blue (LIT) and of course you don't have picture or backlight you have faulty inverter board that need to be replace.

My tv doesnt show any images and the panel has the light of fopc on

Common problems on Sharp LCD tvs as tv it is agings,tv Power LED and OPC LED,LEDS lights flashes happen to mine Sharp tv many times and i had it two years,do this many times, tries to turn on the tv.By trying pushes the power button the remote again if OPC LED and power LED,LEDS lights flashes together.Everytimes the OPC LED and power LED lights flashes, just push the power switch on the tv remote and wait for the tv main Tuner signal board to kick in the backlight to light up tv to work.Have to do this like three or four times before the power supply board to kick it in to make Tuner signal to work.If u require to this more than 5 or 6 times the main tv Tuner signal board it is shorting out and beyond trying to kick in by the power supply board.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.

I have a sharp lcd tv model# LC-32SB23U. the remote stopped working. changed the batteries. still no luck. bought a new universal remote that did not work. bought another remote over the weekend which also...

I would test the old remote again, see below, since the new universal remote may not be programmed correctly. Otherwise it can be the IR receiver in the TV.
Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

If the remote does send out signals, then the problem can be the IR receiver in the TV, it can be due to failed 5vdc or the IR receiver module is bad.

Purchased new sharp aquos lcd and when the tv is facing forward the direct tv remote will not work. With tv facing side remote works fine. Seems the picture is interfering with the remote. Direct TV says...

more likely the remote sensor is misaligned in the tv, and it needs to be pulled out straightened and replaced back in , maybe even the receiver board will need to be replaced. they are small in size and if the tv is in warranty then it will be easy to get it replaced.
the picture does not interfere with rf or ir signals the image is passive. to check the remote you could simply tel direct that the remote stopped working (no matter what tel the phone person it doesnt work...
that will get you a new remote and then you will know if it is the tv or the remote.

I get white dots upper left corner across the screen of set now I have a Sharp LC-37D40U LCD TV. Is it the pixels?

Hi Yabby,

If the dots are very narrow and jump about and you're receiving an analogue signal it could be teletext information. This is normal but is usually hidden off the top of the screen. You need to adjust the picture height to take them off the top.

Andy

Images go suddenly darker

Turn off the the OPC feature in the Menu. If that doesnt help, what youre seeing is most likely the Advanced Dynamic Contrast going to work. In layman's terms, it automatically adjusts the contrast depending on the video signal it is receiving. If you want to disable this, change the AV settings to "User" (button underneath the bottom door on the sharp remote)
