Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Sony-shot DSC- P200, which is showing a message "Memory Stick error' and code C:13:01. I have two memory sticks which both work in my computer, but not in my camera. I have cleaned the contacts. Is there anything else I can try, or do I need a new camera? John K.

This may sound lik an odd solution, but first try this, first:

Make sure the card is inserted properly, use the camera's Format Utility; instead of the computer (Always Use The Camera, with Sony).

Using a pencil eraser (new/clean) gently rub the contacts with the eraser, and use a dry and lint free cloth to wipe any shavings of (don't blow it off with your mouth)..

If the error still presents, try inserting and removing as many as 10 times or more (the contacts, both inside the camera and on the card may have a film on them) to both align and clean the contacts against one another.

I said it sounds odd but here's where Sonystyle.com  says it too:

DCS-P200 error code 13:xx  (all 13 code errors are memory stick related)....

I have Sony DSC-S40 camera with MS 1Gb, when i switch it on i have "access" then error message says" Memory stick error" and flashing "C:13:01" and I can't take photoes or...

Hello and Welcome to Fixya!

C:13:01 memory stick error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. In C:13:01 the issue may be with the Internal Memory or with the Memory Stick.

To solve it try the following solutions

Format error with the Internal Memory which can be corrected by formatting the Internal Memory.
If it is issue with memory stick then turning the power off and on again or taking out and inserting the "Memory Stick" several times may help in resolving the issue. Error may be because of Unformatted "Memory Stick" which can be resolved by formatting the Memory Stick in the Camera If it not remove by formatting in the camera then connect it to PC and tried to format it again but either FAT instead of FAT32 which is the regular format and then reinserted the memory stick and formatted it with the camara. Now it will be solved if it still exist then it means Memory Stick is broken or not compatible which can be resolved by inserting a new compatible Memory stick

I hope this solution helps you

Have Sony CyberShot DSC-F707 Sony Memory Stick Duo Adaptor and Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 4gb When installed get C:1301 error

Hi,

In DSCT1 Camera, the C:13:01 error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camera. In C:13:01, the issue is with the Memory Stick being used in the Camera.

The Symptoms are:

Memory Stick Pro Duo 4GB is not compatible with the DSCF707 Camera. Maximum capacity supported by the Camera is up to 128MB. Please try using a MS with 128 MB and check if it works. A dedicated adapter (MSAC-M2) must be attached to use Memory Stick Duo or MagicGate Memory Stick Duo media.

Thanks.

Memory Stick error c:13:01 My old 512 MB memory stick is working fine. However, recently I brought a 2 GB memory stick and when I put it inside, the camera (Sony DSC S40 cyber shot) shows: MEMORY STICK...

Is your new 2GB memory stick is original from Sony or after market? some of them will not detect in CAM because the contact on MS were not touched iside the slot of CAM
Reinsert your 512 MB MS if it work fine then change your 2MB MS
Good luck

Could be that the camera does not support a 2G stick. Check the operators manual.

"re-insert the memory stick" error

Try cleaning the contacts on the memory stick. I've read that a pencil eraser should be used; I used a soft cloth (T shirt) & then I blew into the slot in the camera that holds the memory stick to clean anything that may be interfering with making a good contact. First try: success!

Hello, there is a contact error. In most cases it can be the connector itself. Please try to clean it with non greasy contact spray. Best regards, Arpi PS: if you need more info please advice.

Have you tried re-formatting the cards? If you can't with the camera you should be able to with a card reader. It's probably the camera, unfortunately, but this is worth a shot...
