Keep getting blue screen, then directed to Microsoft site stating a hard drive problem

Blues screens are one of two things,
1) Corrupt bios - 'what starts up your PC'
2) Bad section of your hard drive - Can fully wipe off your drive with a Software program and start from scratch. when you do, the software will write over the bad sector or around it.
3) Drives are getting less expensive to replace - you just may think of replaceing it and reloading your operating system and start from scratch.
4) Then by USB external 2.5 cabinet 'Under $12.00' at Microcenter or Best buy and place the old drive in the portable/external cabinet to transfer all your old files over to the newer much larger internal hard drive.
Just a thought -

Connecting old IBM color flatbed scanner to new computer

Not likely to work reliably if you get it to work.
The parallel port must be set to communicate in both directions. The SUB to Parallel adapter may be a ONE-WAY communications device.

Get a new (or used) Epson scanner or Epson all-in-one ($50) which includes a scanner and printer! Your new computer may not have the proper drivers for your old IBM scanner, anyway. If you purchase an Epson all-in-one, get a "WorkForce" model - that's their latest product line.

Operating System not found PXE-E61 Media Test Failure IBM T42

Some BIOS allows for a hard drive diags. try it to test the hard drive, if ther is no such utility you need to test the hard drive anoter way.

Basically either the hard disk controller has failed or the hard drive is faulty. In most cases the hard drive is dead.
To check if the hard drive is OK, remove the hard drive and attach it to a USB hard drive adapter then plug it into a working computer's USB port. If the computer sees it as an external drive and you can view the contents of the external drive then the hard drive is OK.
