I suspect that this is not the exact name of the ethernet driver you require.
Try downloading belarcy and running it to find the name of the motherboard and ethernet card
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Then you can search but from experience it appears that many drivers are available from the intel site
Intel PRO/100 VM Network is one of the more common cards

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have a compaq evo d510 SFF, running windows 98 se but it is missing the ethernet driver (inNet/scs in-50083 I think) tried all hp drivers but none work, please help!

a relic, windows 98. now that is brave..
zero HP or MS support , nADA.
other sources full of virus and malware, (think mine field)

ok, we'd need the full chip data on it to do that.
my brain cant even go back that far now, 1998 , 2 decades?
I cant even remember how to get to device manager then?
see my computer icon, right click it and see device manager.?
the click on the ethernet chip. "network adaptor"
it can be blank , red, yellow or unknown marked,
open it by right clicking it and the select properties.
there are PnP codes there,
see that line there, those codes are just 2 simple numbers
one is maker (chip) code8168 is mine and is Realtek
the 8432104 code
is the PCI code for this exact chip
once we know chip we know what driver matches it.

since your internet is down.
getting this driver will take? a working PC.

98-gjxss4stozqitqzvvgvnbxu4-4-0.jpg

this PC sold new, with all these options.from HP.
one will be yours, if not, something, 3rd party from say new egg
i
  • Integrated Intel PRO/100 VM network connection
  • 3COM 3C905C-TX network connection
  • Intel PRO/100 S management adapter
  • Broadcom NetXtreme based 10/100/1000 management Gb adapter
what i do (if w98 insane)
i open the case, look at Rj45 jack you can see and I cant
then i look at what it goes to , to a PCI card (y/n)
if yes i read the words on the card.
if not, off the chip if its MOBO planted there.
that is what I do or did 1000s of time back in 1998.

Need ethernet and mobo drivers

The i in i915p, and i915g, stands for Intel.

It is a motherboard chipset made BY Intel, for IBM/Lenovo.
HOWEVER, just as you suspected, the drivers are proprietary from Lenovo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4.2FPentium_D.2FPentium_EE_chipsets

Research has led me to conclude the Lenovo 29r8260 motherboard, was used in the IBM/Lenovo ThinkCentre M51; series of Desktop PC's.

Let's go see if this holds true, using the information we have.......

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/lenovo-thinkcentre-m51/4507-3118_7-31000439.html

Intel 915G motherboard chipset

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-ThinkCentre-M51-Motherboard-3-4GHz-P4-HT-29R8260-8143-WMG-/360578959486?pt=US_Motherboard_CPU_Combos&hash=item53f42e487e

So far everything looks good.
One more thing to check.........
Go to Device Manager, and see if Broadcom is listed; under -
Network adapters.

(Using WinXP as an example,
Start > Right-click on My Computer > Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on the Hardware tab > Left-click on Device Manager.
Left-click on the + sign next to - Network adapter)

Conclusion?
If Broadcom is the name of the ethernet chipset, it will be in the Network adapter list.
If this holds true, then the following Lenovo Support website, for the ThinkCentre M51 is the one you want,

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?selector=expand

Using the Ethernet driver as an example;

1) Click on - Networking: LAN (Ethernet)
2) Click on the blue - [+] Click for files

3) Click on the blue - Broadcom Ethernet driver and software.
(Or Download, to the right)
4) A small window will come up -
Opening q3etn12us13.exe
Click on Save File.

5) A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to download all the way, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.

If you are not asked to restart your computer, do so.
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
WinXP: Click on Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart.

I'm sure you didn't need all that, but included just in case.

For additional questions please post in a Comment, or on Reply at the end of the solution.

joecoolvette

I bought this laptop at a pawnshop and i can't get online and it said something about ethernet drivers. I called support and they want a service tag number and it is not readable and the express service...

You have to install the correct ethernet drivers for the specific laptop model that you have. Just google for example, acer 4715z ethernet driver and then install.

Innet-scs-si-50083-driver.4.5.1.zip

Look for the driver itself. If the driver is for an HP device, go to HP.com. etc..etc...

btw, don't look for the zip file. That just gets you in more trouble than you want.
