Try uninstalling the printer and all of its software, reboot the computer and see if the keyboard and mouse work again. If they do work again the problem is with compatibility issues with the printer. If not then replace them and try again.

Unfortuneately, although rare, some hardware devices are incompatible with eachother, and simply will not work together on the same system.

What keyboard are you useing ???

You maybe just need to install the driver or software for the keyboard.
Try to visit the manufactures site of the keyboard in search for software.
The driver is sometimes available at windows update.
Are there any faults in the device manager ???

Good luck

Keyboard and mouse not working

what sort of keyboard and mouse is that.. if its a serial or ps/2 then get the ps/2 to usb cable and try it using your usb port. if its usb mouse and keyboard then the better way is to get 4 usb hub and use it with hub.
hope it will solve your problem.
cheers

If it is a USB then it should work with any keyboard and mouse. When you say it shuts off after XP loading screen, does the machine power off? have you tried unplugging the mouse and keybaord and let Windows load?

Hi sdd555,

Restart the computer after plugging the USB keyboard into a different USB port, or remove the keyboard in Device Manager and then refresh the system to work around the issue. This will cause the device to be re-enumerated and the driver will be reloaded.

Good Luck,

I have a dell machine with windows home XP. The problem is I don't have a round socket to take the ps/2 port. Please advise. Many thanks.

If what you want is to connect a ps/2 mouse/keyboard, then try a USB port type mouse/keyboard.
