Hello,

You may notice this when traveling long distances with the unit, just because the unit has to relocate the satellites. if you are noticing this when at home your GPS receiver may be dying out and the unit may have to be sent in for warranty or repair.

Hope this helps!

Rino 530 keeps loosing signal was hunting in Canada using rino while walking . keeps saying no satalite

The GPS needs a clear view of the sky and at least 3 or more satellites to get a fix on your position. If you are under a heavy canopy of tree cover / brush, it can affect accuracy and even the GPS's ability to get a fix at all. Also, if you are in a mountainous region, the geometry of your location and the location of the satellites over the equator could be obstructed, resulting in the lost satellite messages. You must have an unobstructed view of the southern sky to get a fix.

If you are able to get a fix in an open area, the GPS is able to do its job, but the location you're trying to use it in is offers too much interference to capture satellite signals.

Making sure you've got the latest firmware from Garmin can solve a lot of troubles, too. If you still believe that your GPS isn't working the way it should, contact Garmin Support.

I hope this helps - and good luck. Please rate my reply - thank you.

My maps have been wiped of my satnav

Here is what happens a lot of times when folks first get their GPS units. Go into your tools and repair your problem. I would suggest to start everything all over again being slow and putting in what you want slow and correct. It will work. If you have to, re call Garmin customer service for more help. The Satalite has to find you. Be sure you are getting a Signal. Look at your signal strength and be sure you have a good fully charge up battery. Hope this helps.

296 takes forever to acquire satalites.

If you don't use it very often it can take time to find its location. Have you tried using the 'set initial location' option? Once it knows roughly where it is and what time it is it can then work out which satellites it should be looking for instead of searching for any/all of them. The manual does say that it will take time if it has no initial clue as to where on the planet it is, and if you're on the move while it's trying to work that out then it may take even longer. Obviously, if it has a poor view of the sky, or if most of the satellites are behind you and you have a tin roofed aircraft then that will probably not help either.

C550 wont take password

The only way to unlock a PIN locked Garmin is to enter the correct PIN number or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered. Even a Master Reset will not change these settings. Your only other option is to send the unit to Garmin.

Satalite Signal?

Have you tried resetting the unit? Have you done a master reset? If not, try these. Just be aware, a Master Reset will ERASE ALL YOUR FAVORITES.
