Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
When I turn on the computer only my desk top background comes up the rest of the desk top is no where to be found.
How can I reboot my computer successfully?
Prior to this situation, the computer took a very long time -5mins - to start up.
This sounds like the hard drive is failing. At this point you will need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.
