MY 2001 ML 430 FM RADIO IS WORKING BUT VERY FAINT AM CD NAVI IS ALL FINE BUT WHEN I TURN TO FM ITS JUST NOT LOUD I TURN IT UP ALL THE WAY AND STILL VERY FAINT SOUND

Radios naturally come with am, so it will always work so long as there's power to the radio. Fm, however, is a built in receiver and if they break or start to break, then you will lose power to your fm which it sounds like is starting to happen to you.

I put a new stereo in my 1990 Suburban and it blew the fuse for the dome lights, dash lights. It says on the box that it is putting out 3 times the wattage as my old stereo. What can I do to fix that?

Aftermarket stereos are designed to work within the power specifications for most vehicles, if you are experiencing blown fuses I would suggest re-checking the stereo wiring for a crossed, exposed, or improper connection. If you have ruled out all of these then you can install a capacitor to power your system more efficiently. Most car audio stores sell these and are installed between the connection to the head unit and battery. I hope this helps =)

My Pioneer DEH-P2900MP CD Receiver wont get no power

Hi Rod bo,

Normally when trying to diagnose problems remotely, a bit more detail is necessary. If for nothing else, than to save time on the 20 questions.

Several things to check.
  • Make sure +12VDC is getting to BOTH the red and the yellow wires. Confirm with test light or meter..
  • Make sure the ground is grounded
  • Check fuse on unit
  • Check in line fuses
  • Trace to source if necessary.
Things to wonder about....

Is this a new unit?
Has it ever worked?
Have you ever seen it work?

Best regards
Mike

Power to unit and well grounded but wont turn on

There are 2 powers for this stereo. The is a constant power (yellow wire) which holds the memory, then there is an ignition power (red wire) that turns the stereo on when you start the car. Some cars you need to run the red power wire to a fuse that only works when the car is turned on, for example power windows. Only run it to a fuse that is equal to the fuse on the back of the stereo ( more than likely 10a). Oh and btw check the fuse on the back of the stereo under the plug. If none of these work you have a bad stereo. Or you hooked up the wires wrong.

I took out my jvc car radio and when i put it back in there is only a red light coming on and it wont work, any ideas what the problem could be, There isn't a code that I know of!!! thanks Lisa

Sounds like the unit is not "seeing" 12 volts on both the red and yellow wires on the JVC. Check these and possibly the fuses that supply them

I put a radio in my jeep liberty 2002 sport. now my speedometer and reverse lights dont work

Whoever put in your radio must have blown the gauge fuse for the reverse lights/speedometer...just check the fuse box in your car to see if it's blown.

Shuts off after 2 seconds

I had this problem and it turned out to be the fuse located inside the cabin. i had checked (and replaced) the fuse in the engine compartment but didn't think about the one under the steering column. It was an immediate fix.

Sounds like you may have shorted the ignition lead, normally red). Also some radio manufacturers use a cheap fuse holder on thier radio harness so check the fuse holder and the fuse. Then check the radio fuse in the fuse block of the car. Finally check the wire harness where it plugs into the radio (if applicable) a wire may have pulled out.
Make sure all connections you made are insulated.

No AM or FM yet cd player works

Friend,

Maybe, there is a problem from the detector of you radio function to the amplifier. Try to check on it first or try resoldering from the detector section
