MY usb cant format, and it says its write protected yet it has no write protect button

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

Does this USB flash drive have a small slide switch on the edge of the drive to write protect the data on the drive?
If so move the switch to the read/write position.

My usb drive is write protected i cant format it pls help....

Have you tried doing it from another PC? If the same problem persists, look closely at your drive and check for a tiny switch that has a lock label on it- it maybe switched to the lock position. Most USB drives has this switch for write protection.

I cant format my transcend usb 2gb it says write protected

Hi

The pendrive seems faulty or corrupt but there might be a possibility that you recover functionality. I think you might be using XP or VISTA. Whichever the OS use another computer with A DIFFERENT OS (so if its XP go to Vista or vice versa) and FORMAT it. You should be able to get your pendrive working again. If not it is tough luck time!

Cheers

I can't format my 2 gb transcend pen drive it saya write protect

Some usb drives/flash drives have a little switch that locks it and makes it read only to avoid accidentally losing important files. Try looking for a small switch somewhere on the case of the drive and switch it to the other position if you find it.
