Question about Compaq Presario Notebook

1 Answer

Power problem have you ever had trouble plugging your power supply and the batterycharge indicator not coming on. I first thought the charge sensor in mybattery was shot, that my battery was old and in need of replacement. It would hold a 1.5 to 2 hour charge but if I didn't plug in the powersupply, hold it in firmly for a second, then stablize the cord, thecharge battery indicator would flicker off... I think now that I have ashort in the connector but when I get inside, the connector wires areon the underside and not visible for inspection or repair.

Do you think the problem is with the adaptor or the notebook?

What conector did you get inside of? Ac adaptor mains plug, AC adaptor mains input, AC Adaptor DC output, notebook DC input?

I would suggest you replace the power supply. Most likely there is a broken wire in the supply.

Try removing the power supply and battery. Remove the hard drive and RAM. Power it up from the power supply alone. If it goes to BIOS, that has checked the system board. If not, you have a main board issue.

My ibm laptop's mother board cannot power on, please help me solve it

The most likely problem is that the onboard power supply has failed, usually a capacitor has burned out. Or it could be a loose DC supply socket (they only need to have one loose pin on the motherboard.)

Unplugged tv and when plugged back in doesn't come on

Hello
If you have unpluged the TV from wall socket and it doesn't come On when you plug in back, either its power supply system or its stored memory has the trouble. Look whether the power indicator light coms on. Ensure that the main power ON/OFF switch at the front panel of the TV is ON. If the front panel power switch, control switch of your wall socket, and all the other electrical connections are OK, and still the TV doesn't come ON, surely the power inverter baord has the trouble and must be either repaired or replaced. if the power indicator light comes on, and your TV doesn't come ON by remote POWER ON button, the settigs that were stored has vanished, and resetting it to its original setting is necessary. Follow its manual for 'initial setup" and so all the recomended setting there. OK.

Power supply cords is ok but the power indicator lamp is not working.

If you have tested your power supply cord with say a voltage meter, and it is working, then the problem lies with your motherboard. Do you have a charged laptop battery? If it powers on with the battery, then the problem is isolated to the power plug port on the motherboard.

Won't start - battery critically low

You should have a light on the notebook indicating that the power supply is plugged in (this should come on with or without the laptop being turned on). My acer has a green light for power, and the battery indicator shows amber for charging and green for full. If you are not seeing the power or charging indicators, you either have a damaged power jack, or a damaged power supply. Power supplies can be purchased usually for fairly cheap online, but if your power jack is damaged, the laptop will have to be serviced by a service center, or by someone who is skilled with a soldering iron and the disassembly and reassembly of laptops.

My ibm thinkpad laptop stopped working and I thought it was the power supply but I got a new power supply and it still doesn't work.

Please clarify - "doesnt Work".
Does anything happen at all when you press the power button?
Are there lights indicating charging when it's plugged in the wall??
Is the battery in the laptop???

Please use the "continue with this expert" option and reply with a bit more information about your problem.
Thanks!!

Power indicatoror

From the manual:

"Attach the barrel tip of the AC Charging Adapter to the AC Charging port of the POWER TO GO® and plug the standard two-prong plug into an appropriate, functioning 120 volt AC outlet. The red Battery Status LED indicator will flash, indicating a proper connection has been made and the unit is charging. The green Battery Status LED indicators will gradually light as the charge level rises. The POWER TO GO® must be charged for approximately 11-17 hours prior to first use. All Battery Status LED indicators will be lit solid (the red indicator will stop flashing) when the unit is fully charged.
