Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Runs but does not heat up, I removed the bottom from cover under the door and saw that when I turned it on the machine starts running, the thing that ignites the gas heats up to a bright redishish yellow color for a couple of seconds then goes off and the gas never kicks on and starts burning inside he tube. Gad is on, this dryer is maintained very well. The part inside that I think is not working is 25M01A Type 166 Part#8281920. Please advise. Scott

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

This sounds to me like the heating element is bad. You need a meter to test it. You should not attempt this if you are not comfortable with it. Unplug it and remove the front of the machine, some have kickpanels under the door that come off with little effort after two screws are removed, Others require that the top of the machine be lifted off and then the front taken off. Then you need to locate the heating element. It is mounted to the bottom of the machine. You at this point should start cleaning the unit because it is most likely covered in lint. Then you can pull out the heating element box. NOTE where the wires are connected. Then you can check to see if the heating coil is bad. You can see if it is broken or you can use a meter to test it. There are also two switches on the unit that houses the heater coil. One is a thermal fuse and the other is a thermostat., Check those too.

if the ignitor is glowing you could have bad gas coils located on the top of the gas valve or a bad gas valve, open the door, look for the tag where you put the clothes into dryer and send the full model number,if you have a volt meter check the coils, also when the ignitor starts to glow tap the valve lightly with a pair of plyers or something like that,if it lights the valve is bad but either get new gas coils and try that or check the coils with meter.

Poulan " Wild Thing

It is running lean, they always need to run a little on the rich side free running, once the engine is loaded it will then need the excess fuel, it runs ok without the bar and chain because there is no load, start by replacing the fuel filter in the fuel tank, check the fuel hose up to the carb for signs of fuel leakage, replace if reqired, if the carb has standard adjuster screws, increase the H screw by 1/4 turn out ( anto clockwise ) this will richen the mixture.

Saw cranks and runs in choke but we the throttle is pressed the saw dies out... I repeated starting saw and got the same results, what can I do to fix the problem?

Its running lean, so we need to look at things that will starve the engine of fuel, it is always best to start with the simple inexpensive things first, remove the filter from the fuel tank, fitted to the fuel hose, and replace, check the fuel hoses from the tank up to the carb for signs of detirioration or leaks, there is also an internal filter in the carb, under the alloy pump cove held with a single screw, once all these things have been checked, you can make an adjustment to the carb if it is no better, unscrew the L and the H screw a quarter turn to richen the mixture.

Tightening the chain

Fuel ratio is 40:1 using modern chain saw oil--not any petroleum base oil like boat motor oil. Be sure to premix fuel and oil in it's own container and to shake vigorously just before filling the saw each time. To remove the chain, loosen the chain adjustment screw several turns CCW, release the chain brake, and remove the side nuts that hold the rear chain cover. The cover will just pull off, then the bar can be pulled rearward somewhat and the chain worked off of the bar. Remove the bar by pulling it outward. Clean the entire area where the bar and chain fit to the engine, then clean the bar oil ports that run from the larger holes out to the chain groove on each side of the bar. Start the engine with bar/chain removed--oil should ooze out of the side port where the bar fits to. If ok, and the chain appears to be relatively unworn, refit everything in the reverse order of removal, making sure that the chain teeth cut toward you on the bottom run, and the chain adjustment tang drops into one of the large oil holes when replacing the cover. Tighten the mounting nuts only finger tight, and adjust the chain screw CW until the chain ceases to droop from the lower side of the bar, yet not so tight that it can't be turned by hand. Tighten the mounting nuts firmly and recheck the chain tension. If ok, and the engine runs well, start the machine and hold the bar tip near some cardboard while running at speed for several moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil onto the cardboard. Use common chain/bar oil available from home centers, hardware stores and saw dealers. Make sure the chain is properly file sharpened. Hope this helps!

I have a Whirlpool LGR7646JQ0 Gas Dryer. No heat . Things I have already done * Checked vent clogged, Gas supply, all good. * Removed back upper and lower panels removed top and front door section ,cleaned...

If you checked all those other things you probably have a busted glowplug. Its similar to an igniter on a stove just a small element that gets super hot to ignite the gas. You'll need to replace it yourself or get a repairman to come do it. If you do decide to do it yourself make absolutely sure that you do not touch the element itself with your bare hands as the oil from your skin will cause the element to break when it heats up and you will be back to square one. The glow plug is usually located in the bottom left hand corner of the dryer and if you pull the front cover off the machine and remove the air duct in front of it you should see it pretty clearly. Obviously have the gas and electricity disconnected before you work on any gas machine.

Short or something like it on M20i

There are a couple of things to try. The first one will most likely resolve your problem.
Unplug the machine and go to the back. On the back cover, you will see another cover, about 4 inches x 4 inches. That cover is just held in with two plastic latches. Just flex them and remove that small cover. Inside there, you will see 2 memory sticks. Just move the white tabs outward and remove both memory sticks, just note which is the top and bottom stick, it does make a difference.
With the memory sticks removed, plug the machine back in and turn it on. Allow it to power up. Once the machine powers up, shut the machine down , insert the memory sticks, then power the machine back up. Your machine should return to normal operation.
The memory you removed is the difference between a M20 and an M20i.
Now, if that doesn't work, you may have a shorted heating element in fuser. To eliminate that issue, you have to open the right hand door, on the upper , ( I would say 2/3rds) of the rear side you will see a thin plastic cover with a white wire running under it. Remove that silver screw, pop the white connector out and try starting the machine with the fuser unplugged, you will most likely get a message that says " Open Heat Error" but it should not reset.
If that is the case and the fuser is bad, you will want to go onto google and look up ' the parts drop'. Call them and ask for Britt,he will have the part at a better price than Xerox. You can't just replace that heat roller, its a weird setup on the M20.
I dont work for the parts drop, but I have done business with them for years and they are the best in the business.
If both of those fail to resolve your problem let me know. Would be very odd if one of those 2 items doesn't recsolve your issue.
Most likely the memory removal will resolve it. Please let me know so I can be sure this helped.
