The throttle potentiometer error code is caused by a damaged or worn potentiometer. The fix for this problem is to replace the throttle potentiometer. The part is available from Pride based on the model and serial number. Hope this helps.

There is also a speed potentiometer wired in series with the throttle potentiometer. For a complete and thorough repair, it is advisable to replace both.

Light is blinking a 7 fault code, what does this fault code mean.

According to the owner's manual for this scooter, flash code 7 indicates a speed control lever fault. This is the lever that you push to go forward and reverse. The lever is attached to a throttle potentiometer to control the speed of the scooter. The lever has to be in the middle or neutral position when the scooter is turned on, if not, you will get a 7 flash code. If the throttle potentiometer is damaged you will also get a flash code 7.
You can try to adjust the throttle pot or try manipulating the neutral position and turning the scooter on and off until the computer sees neutral. This is a potential work around and will cause the scooter to creep forward when running with hands off the throttle lever because there is no zero setting. I usually just replace the throttle potentiometer and this solves the problem. I hope this helps.

Why does my freerider westminster **** when wigwag is pulled?

Hi,firstly it could be a worn throttle pot , incorrect values being received by the controller..

Secondly , the brake could be sticking hence the delay then movement and that would affect you in both directions...

For the brake i suggest you spray some contact cleaner or WD40 but remember you're lubricating the brake so take care when testing as it may still move when you stop...

Sundancer scooter flashing wigwag code

The wig-wag can be tested with an ohm or multimeter. The wigwag plug must be disconnected in the tiller console or at the split-frame connector. Speed dial must be turned up all the way. Measure the wigwag with the ohm meter from the outer most tabs. It should read 5,000 ohms +/- 5%. Then measure center tab to either outer tab. When in "neutral" position it should read 2,500 ohms +/- 10%. If the wigwag is in tolerance I would have the batteries and battery harnesses checked next. Each battery should be charged and tested by a battery shop. These should be 12volt 18-35amp hour batteries.
If the batteries test fine then you have a wiring issue where a loose or corroded wire is dropping voltage under load. Sometimes these types of "bad" connections will cause the wire/connector to become warm or even discolor the connector/wire.
Best regards.

What does a flashing yellow light mean on the joystick? the light looks like the shape of a wrench.

Hi Judy,

According to Pride's troubleshooting documents the service indicator (wrench icon) will flash when a fault is detected by the dynamic controller.

The number of flashes, followed by a 2 second pause, indicates the issue. You will need to count the flashes to determine the cause and a possible solution.

I have typed the flash codes below, but you can also see them on a larger table here:

Code #1
  • Flash Code: One, pause, one
  • Cause: Possible Stall Timeout
  • Possible Solution: Turn joystick off, then on.

Code #2
  • Flash Code: Two, pause, two
  • Cause: Battery Fault
  • Possible Solution: Charge batteries, check battery connections and fuses.

Code #3
  • Flash Code:Three, pause, three
  • Cause: Left Motor Fault
  • Possible Solution: Make sure the left motor is plugged in.

Code #4
  • Flash Code: Four, pause, four
  • Cause: Right Motor Fault
  • Possible Solution: Make sure the right motor is plugged in.

Code #5
  • Flash Code: Five, pause, five
  • Cause: Left Park Brake Fault
  • Possible Solution: Make sure the left brake is not in freewheel mode.

Code #6
  • Flash Code: Six, pause, six
  • Cause: Right Park Brake Fault
  • Possible Solution: Make sure the right brake is not in freewheel mode.

Code #7
  • Flash Code: Seven, pause, seven
  • Cause: Joystick Fault
  • Possible Solution: Check the joystick connection.

Code #8
  • Flash Code: Eight, pause, eight
  • Cause: Power Module Fault
  • Possible Solution: Check connections to the power module and batteries.

Code #9
  • Flash Code: Nine, pause, nine 9
  • Cause: Controller Communication Fault
  • Possible Solution: Check bus connections from the joystick to the power module.

Code #10
  • Flash Code: Ten, pause, ten
  • Cause: Controller Fault
  • Possible Solution: Contact Technical Service for assistance.

Code #11
  • Flash Code: Eleven, pause, eleven
  • Cause: Incompatible Device Fault
  • Possible Solution: Contact Technical Service for assistance.

Hi. Is a Fisher and Paykel scooter? While the lights are flashing, press the horn button. The lights will stop flashing and display a fixed pattern, this is the fault code. Once you have done this let me know what it is, and I will be able to tell you what the fault is.Neil.

Scooter moves approx 10 feet then stops led flashes 8 times then stops

Hi. 8 flashes is a fault code for a motor fault. It will be either worn brushes in the motor or faulty connectors to the motor. This fault code means that there is no circuit through the motor. Probably time to overhaul the motor. Most mobility scooters have plugs and sockets that are really to small to carry the amount of current that they do. Because of this, they sometimes fail.Good luck. Neil.

Golden Companion Scooter not moving - diagnosed via owner manual

Hi. Many scooters will display this fault code if the potentiometer is not exactlly centred when you turn on the key. The pot is not always faulty. Some scooters also have a smaller additional pot to controll the speed. If this pot is faulty it will cause the same fault code. Any other switches such as indoor/ outdoor switches. I have had a few machines fitted with curtis controllers where the fault is in the controller.
Check the wiring and plugs and connectors.
Good luck. Neil.
