You have a bad electrical connection - check all of them for proper fitting and clean the corrosion /oxides that have appeared on them. Also check the starter relay by jumping it - connect the starter directly to the battery when the fault appears: if the engine turn normally then you will know for sure that you need a new one.

It means that the battery is weak ...if it is on a 12 V battery ..just connect it with some wires to your car's battery ...(connect the batteries in parallel ) ..start the car's engine ...and after that start the mower ...and remove the wires... Check out why the battery is dead...probably it is not charging well ...

By the way ...if you do not have original current cables...use some real thick cables..and tide them well on the batteries ends ...cause this is a high amperage current ..and they need to be thick ..even if the voltage is low..

starter motor weak. weak battery or engine is seized. take the spark plugs out and turn engine over with spanner on the bottom bolt on the pulley. if thats fine and move the engine freely then check the battery try a jump off a good battery. if not good and still will not start with the spark plugs back in then the starter motor is weak and needs changing. can do any of these in any order you like.

I have a similar problem with my van. What is happening, is that there is a weak connection, that sometimes (or almost always, in some cars having this sort of problem), not enough current gets through to the starter or other engine parts, so once the current draw is too high for the weak connection, everything acts like the battery is dead. It is very difficult to track down because testing for continuity acts as if all connections are good, because there is still a connection, it just cannot handle the needed current.

In my case, simply moving or bending part of the wiring harness close to the battery makes everything work fine for about the next two to four weeks, until it works loose again. In my case, I need to replace that part of the wiring harness. I just have not yet done this myself yet due to finances and available time.
I know it sounds strange and you wonder how power to the starter or engine could affect the other parts, but it does. Not even as much as the dome lights would come on, once any part of the engine takes enough power to cause the broken, frayed or weak wire inside of the loom to seperate.

On some vehichles, a possible work-around could be to first check to make sure all connections to the starter motor are good and tight, and if the problem still happens, then get a somewhat universal starter cable that connects between the battery and starter. The "propper" fix, however, is to replace the entire wiring harness if it can be afforded.

Hi, you may have a bad battery cable, but first check the 30 amp fuse 101 under the hood. If that's good, check the cable from the battery to the starter carefully for weak spots, where it will bend easily. Also check the cable from the negative terminal for weak spots. It that cable goes to the frame or chassis rather than the engine, also check the ground strap from the frame to the engine.

engine light may mean change or add oil or airfilter is dirty.make sure all hoses are still hooked up.The pause befor starting could be the battery but is more likely the start relay solenoid or the starter brushes are worn and may need cleaning or replacing.the brushes wear out and leave their dust in the starter causing the resistance in the starter to get higher over time.(slow to start spinning, and acts like battery is weak.)
