Sony sa-wm500 subwoofer is crackling

If the sound is a scratchy type of sound then the voice coil has been damaged and is rubbing up against the internal magnet producing the scratching and low sound since the cone is barely moving;.

Sound center

Replace center channel speaker with known good one. If no longer scratchy then the voice coil of removed unit is rubbing against the magnet pole and the speaker needs to be replaced. If the replacement speaker also sounds bad, then the amp for the center channel needs repair.

Speaker has scrachy sound was it just overpowered, does not make much noise when you push in on the speaker?

A scratchy sound may indicate that your speaker is clipping, or worse, blown. Make sure you are not running too much power to the speaker, or you run the risk of destroying your subwoofer. Reduce the power and see if the scratchy noise has gone away. If not, you may have damaged your voice coils by putting too much power through the speaker.

My Kenwood KAC-9105D amp quit working in the middle of a song. The music was loud, but I have had it louder before and it was fine. All the fuses on the amp and in the power cable are fine. The...

protection mode engages when there is either a crossed/shorted speaker wire, an incompatible speaker or a blown speaker with fried voice coils.

check your wires for shorts and/or loose strands of wire, your speaker ohmage (should be single coil, 4 ohm) and your speaker's operation. if you push the speaker in about an inch or 2 and there is some resistance, like its sort of scratchy when it moves, then the speakers voice coils are fried. speakers should push in and out freely, with no scratchiness or resistance, until they bottom out at 1 to 2 1/2 inches.

if it is not the speaker or the wiring, then the amp is damaged.

No sound on my Dell Dimension 3000

i would try checking the plug for your speakers to see if it is loose.
If you move the plug is there any static that comes from the speakers?

If you have headphones maybe try plugging them in to see if you have sound through them.
If you do have sound then i would say it is your speakers that are bad.

If you get no sound or scratchy sound through the headphones, then i would suspect either a loose jack connection for your audio or a dying audio chip.

The speakers are making a very scratchy noise. They are hooked up to my desktop computer. When first purchased last year, they sounded quite good. Now, they are very scratchy and not on high volume.

Do you by any chance have any other wireless device like a cell phone near the speakers when you hear this?

Any kind of device that has a magnet field will cause scratching sounds on the speakers. I discovered this quite by accident with my old Boost mobile phone.

Sound scratchy

Seems to me that the first thing you want to do is find out if your problem comes from the camera speakers/output, or if it records them scratchy. Take one of the "scratchy" cassettes, and play them on another device to see if it transfers bad audio. If it does, then you're worst off offcourse, more of a repair. If it doesn't you can decide you don't need a repair, as long as it does the job. Good luck
