If you have an ohm meter, check each lead to ground (compressor casing, make sure you scratch through to steel). I suspect your compressor has grounded out. You should also check between leads, there should be measurable resistance.

The model number has been changed to MCCF-3 download and go to page 18 for the wiring diagram.
This is a dual voltage unit. 220 Volts for compressor 120 Volts for everything else.
I would disconnect the leads to the compressor to isolate it. Then energize the unit and see if It blows.
Using the wiring diagram and a multimeter slowly check each heater, fan light.

Our Friedrich Floating Air system keeps throwing the breaker. Worked fine for 5 years, now can't get it to stay on.

Check compressor is taking correct amps, if high amps due to capacitor weak, replace it. And also check for any short circuit in wiring. That is also the reason for breaker tripping.
Remove power. Check compressor terminals after removing wiring, When your ohms read something between any terminal and grounding, it's understood that compressor grounded. Replace it.
If windings reading should be : SR should read the total of CS and CR (C=COMMON, S=STARTING,R=RUNNING). If the total is higher or lower, the compressor winding is weak. That time it takes higher amps and breaker get tripped.
Hope helpful?

The breakers for AirConditioning keep throwing the outside unit does not come on - insiide by " the Heat or Cool buttons it sounds like it is working - I put 2 Brand new fuses...

You need to check the three wires on the compressor, hopefully one or two are burnt. If the wires are good then the compressor is shorted, way to test. disconnect wire and use a multimeter, ohms setting, touch one of the copper lines and then where you disconnected the wire from. You will need to check all three. of course make sure the you have the off. Good Luck

My unit is throwing off my breaker. Need to know

You possibly have a ground, either a fan motor or compressor motor or a loose or cut wired. You could also have a motor that is locked up. Either possibility is not good.

Duo Therm compressor tries to start and kicks out

I don't think these little units have a start capacitor but what I would do is check that the on/off switch wires to make sure they aren't loose. Also check the wires to the compressor for loose wires as well. It is possible that these are the first signs that the compressor is about to fail. They also can act up some when they haven't been used for awhile and then you try and start them up. Try running the unit for a few hours without asking it to cycle. It might just be a sticky valve.

Fan motor comes on, however, when a/c is turned on, breaker pops

If the unit is working fine in heat mode and in fan only mode, you have a short in the wiring going to the ouside unit. If it were a fan relay, then everytime the fan came on the breaker would trip. But either way, there is a low voltage short taking place in the unit. If the compressor was bad, the indoor unit would run fine and would only blow the breakers to the ouside unit. I had a unit last summer that did the same exact thing. After I replaced the control wiring to the outside unit, everything worked like a charm. Good luck!

It sounds like a wiring problem. If you still have the instructions that came with the unit, look at the wiring diagram and make sure you have everything right. If you dont have the instructions, you can find them online. Be careful you dont zap yourself! When you're in there playing around with wires make sure you kill the power to the furnace at the breaker. Double check this with a voltage tester if you have one. Also, if you're not sure you may want to disconnect the unit until you can afford to have a qualified professional look at it or you may end up doing more harm than good.
