I want to sell my gateway desktop but have pictures music videos and documents on it

purchas an extrenal hard drive and plug in and it should install itself, then choose the folder containing the pictures and right click and choose send to then choose the new drives letter and send it, do the same for the vids and music, then after you have checked to make sure all the info was copied to the new drive, if you are using windows 7 you can use easy transfer to transfer to external hard drive'

I do not know how to down load music onto a file to store as i am not good with a computer i have just purchased a pc

Hi,

Nice having you get a PC for yourself, basically if you want to download music onto a file to store on your PC, then you'll have to do any of the following;

1. Get the music files from another location on an external storage like a flash drive,external hard disc, etc. Get the music from say another PC into the external storage and connect the external storage to your computer and transfer the files to your computer. This should not be difficult either.

2. You can connect the computer to the internet and download directed by specifying the location that you need the music file to be downloaded to. Once this is done you can now go ahead and save. One of the websites you can get some music files from included www.rnbxclusive.com

Hope this would help.

Using the External Hard Drive

The external hard drive has to be connected to the computer, then from the computer you have to connect a cable to the TV. New TV's have a vga cable, where you can connect the computer directly to the TV, but some might have older cables.
Here is a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_display_interfaces

I hope that helps..

I have a dell dimension 3000 pc that i haven't used for a few weeks as i was waiting for an external hard drive to put all my music, videos etc on. I have just come to use the pc and it won't even turn on....

if the external hard drive is hook up to the main drive you might have to disconnect the exteranl hard drive and try another way to hook them up together . you did something wrong when you installed the externall drive. try it . and see if the original hard drive boots up. if this works you will have to change the boot sequence to use the external drive.

I brought a Maxtor basics external desktop hard drive, 500gb for my laptop. my laptop is windows vista and i can't get the portable hard drive to work or install onto my laptop. what can i do?

A few basics.. are you sure you've hooked it up right? meaning usb cable plugged into both the laptop and the hard drive? Does that particular model hardrive require a power pack to operate? If so, is that plugged in and operational? Assuming that is all OK.. does your system recognise that new hardware has been added when you turn it ( the hard drive on) and it is plugged in? It should but if not.. you may have to use the control panel and choose the ADD NEW HARDWARE feature.. At some point during all this. your system shoud acknowledge that new hardware has been recognized and it should ask for a cd with drivers on it to be installed or it may already have drivers that are compatible with it and self load.. If you fail to get any kind of new hardware acknowledgement, you may have a bad USB cable, a bad USB port or your new hard drive is not operating correctly.. I'll check back periodiaclly to see if any of these suggestions got you going or if you need any more help.. Good luck
