Hello yf.....Let me begin by saying that this is a pretty serious problem and a costly repair. IF you are doing it yourself, first check the motor coupler. That is what attaches the motor to the transmission. You have to remove the motor to get a good look at it.

It is probably a broken motor coupler. That said, it could also be a problem within the transmission itself.

IF this washer is more than 4 years old I would not recommend repairing it. The new ones are so much more efficient that they pay for themselves within their warranty period. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Washer stops during normal wash cycle for a minute or more, and then continues. Would replacing the timer fix it?

If it actually goes on and finishes the cycle and that really bothers you replace it. If not leave it alone and allow a little more time to complete its cycle. The lid switch only keeps the spin cycle from going with the top open.

Whirlpool Wfw9050x will not advance to spin cycle

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. Or

I was using the spin cycle to spin water from a scarf. I decided to stop the stop so I hit cancel button. Now the washer door is locked and I can't open it.

• If the cycle is interrupted during spin, it will take approximately 2-3 minutes for the door lock to release. DO NOT force open the door. • To stop the washer, press Cancel.

Stopped operating in the spin cycle

With a heavy blanket you probably have an out-of-balance condition which doesn't let the machine spin out and drain. This would keep the door lock from opening. Try hitting the Stop button twice. This should cancel the cycle and let the door lock open after a little while. Then either redistribute the load or add some items and run a Spin and Drain cycle.
