When this happens you may have to contact your network provider or subscriber to fix the problem. The phone line is probably faulty and it could be a technical issue. However if it is a cell phone you might have touched something on the settings that makes the phone to be bussy whenever someone calls. you can go back to the settings and make sure that it allows incoming calls and that they are not bared.hosea

I am trying to fax, but I keep getting a "busy"

Make sure you have pluuged the telephone line lead into the "LINE" socket and not the "TEL" socket of the fax machine. I reckon thats why you are not dialling out correctly. If this is in an office, make sure you are dialling the access number for an outside line, usually a 9 before the phone number.

My Brother MFC7340 Fax Machine will not send faxes it has a busy signal always and a busy signal when someone tries to fax me.

Hi,
You need to reset the memory, since previously you have dialed some number, which is not able to connect. So restart the printer. Unplug the printer for 10 minutes and plug back the power to the printer.

Hope this helps.

Since you mentioned that you have an outside line, do you have to use a code to dial out normally? Try plugging in a phone to the line for your fax machine, and attempt to dial the number for the other fax machine using the phone. You should reach the fax and hear a high pitched sequence of tones. This is the other fax machine trying to establish a connection. If you still get a busy signal, try calling the owner and letting them know that their fax machine is not accepting incoming calls.

I cant fax

Take your cell-phone, and dial the same number, to see if you get the same "busy" signal.

If the telephones in your business require you to "dial-9" to get an "outside" line, be sure that your FAX is also following that "dial-9" protocol, and also waiting 1 or 2 seconds after the "dial-9", in order to get the dial-tone from the "outside" line.

Check the fax line with a regular phone and dial a fax number to listen for fax tones.

Norstar m7324 - forward to outside line

The solution for someone using the administrator phone (receptionist phone) is after discovering you have a fax call, depress the <link> button. Dial the fax number, wait for it to answer, then depress <link> again. This places call 1 with an outside number.

Apparently this is also available if you have a feature button by depressing <feature> <7> <1> instead of <link>. I haven't tried this so don't take my word for it.

This can also be used to forward a caller to an outside line, such as a cell phone. In the manufacturing business, our shop manager is never in the office. I may ask him if this is a viable solution.

Phone line gets busy tone while recieving fax in DRPD mode

As I understand it, this is as it should be. You have two different numbers sharing the same physical line and only one can be active at any one time, so if you are using the phone and someone tries to fax, the fax line will be engaged and similarly, if you are sending a fax and someone tries to ring on your phone line, it will be engaged.

Fax

If you have dial-up for your internet access you cannot be online when a fax is coming through. The line has to be free to receive the fax.

Dialling out!

Hi make sure that you don't need a prefix number i.e. a 9 to dial a outside line. The best test is to plug a normal phone into the socket and call someone from that line. If the same problem is still there then it is a line problem if not check within the machine menu that under TTI or call settings that there is no prefix number installed. If there is set the machine so it doesn't need a prefix.

I hope this helps you
Thanks J
