Hello, sounds like you have a bad capacitor, the capacitor gives the motor a boost and improves the running effeciency of the motor. Replace the capacitor it should fix the problem.

Why is fan not working on outdoor unit?

Very common problem is the capacitor goes bad. The capacitor stores energy that starts the fan spinning. Turn ac on and take a long skinny screwdriver, or straighten a metal cotehanger and slide through fan cover and give it a little push, if it starts spinning indicator the capacitor has gone bad. They are fairly inexpensive for most ac units..and are pretty easy to replace. If you do replacethe capacitor is located in compartment with a metal cover on the side of outdoor unit. Be sure to kill power to ac before replacing, also the capacitor stores electricity..it can zap you if you touch the top of capacitor where plug connections are. Take a screwdriver and touch across the connection points and discharge the capacitor for safe handling..here are some images of what the capacitors look like..

If the heat is excessive and/or shutting down because of heat issues, your fans and heatsinks might be dusty enough that they can\'t get the heat away fast enough. At the least, you should remove (or have removed at the repair shop if you cannot disassemble the laptop properly and/or completely) the cpu and/or gpu fans and heatsinks and clean them out with a can of compressed air. When they are removed, you should replace the cpu and gpu heatsink paste (non-conductive thermal compound) so that they can efficiently dissapate the heat they produce to the heatsinks. Also check your cooling fans for free spinning. Give the fan a clean, then try giving it a spin with your finger, it should continue to spin for a second or 2, the longer the better. If it stops spinning immediately, the fan might have to be replaced too.
If it runs, but gets hot ....
The following advice should be given to all laptop owners : the little rubber feet are important and should be replaced with something at least twice as high. Put your laptop on a flat surface, like a table, and look under the laptop. The little rubber feet give it airspace under the laptop, where most (but not all) laptops have the fresh air intake for the fans. If you cant see through under it, it wont get the cooler airflow it needs. A laptop cooler works best, but if you dont have a laptop cooler, you can use 4 plastic bottle caps (or similar) under the 4 corners to keep it up higher. And dont ever run the laptop sitting on a couch, chair, blanket, lap !! or any non flat hard surface, because the little feet wont keep it up high enough and the fan(s) will suck dust, lint, hair ... into the fans and plug up the heatsink(s)

Motor starts but wont turn

If it hasn't been running for a while, try going up on roof (AC in off position) and using a stick, or similar piece long enough to slide it through air slots in cover and spin fan blades a few times. It may only go a little at a time but keep going until you make 2 or 3 rotations. Then remove it and have someone try fan mode only. If it runs, let it run for a few minutes and , from then on it should be o.k. If you can't get at it to spin it enough with stick, remove screws on top of cover and remove cover and spin by hand (carefully and power off to AC), then try to start it. If motor hums but still will not start by itself, have capacitor replaced. Very dangerous to handle so either have someone who's familiar with capacitors do it, or a technician.

When i turn the A/C on, the temperature begins to rise and it begins to spill the antifrezze from the radiator reservoir. Dont know what the problem is.

You evidently have a problemwith your engine cooling system. Check to make sure that the cooling fins on your A/C Condensor and Radiator are not clogged up with dirt and debris. Check that your mechanical fan clutch has some resistance to pushing it by hand. If it spins too freely. the fan clutch could be worn out. Check to see how much air it is actually moving through the radiator. When the engine is at operating temperature and the A/C is on, This fan should be turning at a very high speed and blowing HOT wind in your engine compartment. I believe that your vehicle is also equipped with an electric cooling fan. The electric cooling fan should be running any time the A/C compressor is engaged. If not, then you must diagnose this failure.

My standing fan is humming and wont spin the way it should. It spins in the reverse direction at an extremely slowly, kinda like its dried(already oiled it up). When I try to manually give it a push start,...

Sounds like the shaft & bearings are gummed up. Clean them up with Liquid Wrench or WD - 40 (sparingly) spinning the shaft by hand to get it inside the bearings, front & rear. You should feel it loosening up. Then remove as much as you can with a cloth while spinning the shaft. Then relube with 3-in-1 oil. --- Oil alone will not cut thru the gum. Remember WD - 40 and Liquid Wrench are not lubricants!! You must use 3 -in-1oil or the likes.

AC unit wong start unless I spin the blower

you have 2 windings that are in you motor,One winding is the start winding It give the motor its initial boost that gets the fan spinning. The other winding is the run winding and it takes over and keeps the fan running. So it sounds like the motor is bad because the start winding is not giving the boost it needs to start. good luck--Nate

Outside compressor fan won't spin without a nudge

Hi,

either you can lubricate it by spraying wd40 on the bushings. Although usually fan motors are permanently lubricated there are still dust particles that get through and cause it not to spin.
