Same here. This is the second lightware projector that has that diamond shape glass shatter. I would like to know the part name/number and where I might find it. Also thinking it would be a good idea to check the internal fan out. If anyone knows what the "diamond shape" glass is that is located behind the bulb please pass it on. We can still use the projector but image is darker and sometimes difficult to see.

    Hi All,

That part is called the condenser lens. It apparently focuses the light and makes the projection look brighter. I have also read that the lens may help shield the lcd and mirror from the heat of the bulb. The projector can run without the lens but I would be worried about the buildup of heat and of course the brightness.

I have been searching for a replacement lens today without luck. Someone has posted the dimensions of the lens here (for those looking):http://img22.imageshack.us/my.php?image=...
    D: 63.6 mm H: 28 mm

My lens broke today at bootup. I'm not sure what happened, but I have read that the lens should not be exposed to sudden temperature changes and should not be moved when hot. I have been opening the bulb door each time after operation to let it cool down, so maybe that is what did it in. Or perhaps the bulb was just too hot, this is what I was using:http://www.divinelighting.com/evdl-200-h...

Anyhow, here is what I have found so far: http://www.surplusshed.com/search.cfm?Se...

After my vp800 plays for a hours it cuts off. WHY?

Remove the cover and check whether the air filters blocked with dust.
Whenair filters are blocked, air doesn't flow freely through the projector. This result in overheating, leading to automatic shutdown.

Check the bulb with a multimeter or it could be the ballast .Lots of times it an easy solution like trying another ac cord that fits better or even the ac fuse.

Manual for lightware vp800, and i can't get the sound to work

Try changing to your S video wire input. If you hear a cracking sound it could be you've blown your speakers. It depends on your application but I run all my DVD equipment through my stereo system, just run the same video wire to your stereo and select that input on the stereo .And yes they do have remote controls, try ebay where you can get another vp800 w/remote under 100.

Won't turn on.

It is cheaper to buy a used one off of ebay than have it repaired. It is so out dated that most shops won't touch them.If you buy another keep the old one for parts ,they are great little projectors.
