Dear Expert. I loaded rechareable batteries into my Silva Multi Navigator and the message appeared stating; DEBUG. This was followed by all the screen messages being highlighted. I did manage to start the unit next day up but when I turned it off, it will not start again. I can press the compass screen and the compass works OK. Is this unit repairable, is there a reset button. Is there anyone in Melbourne Australia that can repair this unit - MACSON, the original distributor do not appear to exist anymore. HELP!! I do not want to dispose of this GPS unless the unit is totally irrepaiable. Any suggestion please. Regards Paul Melbourne

DST (Drive Self Test) failed. this simply means that the drive is no longer stable. If you are unable to boot to windows or safe mode and this is the error you get you might need to do a low level format if you still want to use it or do a debug script then repartition and re-format the drive.

The Low-level partition - will reinitialize your drive to the factory settings.

Debug Script - removes DOS and non-DOS partitions on the hard drive. It also allows you to convert a drive from an incompatible partition structure to one that will work with FDISK.EXE such as, converting Linux partitions to MS-DOS partitions.

For you to use the Low-level format and to completely wipe out HDD data. Use the format software from http://www.killdisk.com, download the CD ISO image , burn to CD, ad boot from CD , the rest can be found in the menu.

In using the debug script use this :
Insert the boot diskette that contains the Debug command into the respective drive.
Restart the computer.
A black screen with Microsoft Windows® 95 Startup Menu will appear. Press the <5> key on the keyboard followed by the <Enter> key. The boot process will conclude with an A:\> prompt, followed by a blinking underline (cursor).
From the A:\> prompt, type the following commands and press the <Enter> key after each command:
NOTICE: Performing the following will remove all data from your hard disk drive.

NOTE: Type the bolded text only (the debug prompt is a dash). You will receive an error if you type anything other than the bold text. The non-bolded text represents the system response that will appear after typing each command and press the <Enter> key.

The message, Program terminated normally, appears. Turn off the computer by pressing the power button.
On the next startup the hard drive must be partitioned and formatted.

what IE are you using?
the debug will appear when you using IE6. the reason is that most of th web site have activex. IE6 can't handle it. you need to install IE7 sp1.

I followed the advice given above and copied the ORACLE_HOME/bin/ociw32.dll to ora73.dll in the same directory. copy ociw32.dll ora73.dll
And the software worked immediately.
