Sounds like the DVD is not video but a ROM disc. VD's can store hundreds of times more data than a CSD Rom and that's why they are used for this purpose. Put it in a computer DVD drive and see what is on it.

2133 hp notebook freezes at startup repair disks that came with do nothing

The DVD driver is critical to loading the operational system, did you try setting the boot order on the usb storage device, from your comments you have done that. The only other thing you can try is remove one stick of ram and power up, if no! remove the second one and replace the first piece and try again, "long shot" but worth the try. If none of these work you may have a hard drive issue, or windows files have been corrupted.

I bought this laptop from a market stall i tried to play dvd's but nothing comes up at all

Can your DVDROM read the DVD when it is insert?
Open your Windows Explorer and see if the DVDROM can read the DVD data!
If you can't see the data on the DVD, probably your DVDROM or or DVD is the problem.
If you can see the data on the DVD, then you have not install the necessary "codec" to play the video from the DVD.

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-18 Took out HD to reload windows as it would not load but stuck at the safe / last known good config etc. Loaded XP onto HD via an ACER laptop and reinserted it into ToughBook -...

I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.

Can not boot dell 6650 from external dvd

Have you checked boot device options....from BIOS
Use F9 during boot to goto ROM-BIOS and change Boot device option to CDROM/DVDROM.
Insert Boot media or DVD-Win2003, to DVD-ROM device..
reboot Server, try now
If still issue.. Check to boot Server using some other media..
if other cd media works, then it could be DVD-Win2003 faulty, otherwise download firmware for CD/DVDROM and upgrade it and check if DVDROM works, otherwise you have to contact Dell Support..

Does Dell PowerEdge 4600 Server support DVD ROM

I am working on one of these now and yes, it should boot from DVDROM. Be aware that it is a notebook style drive and there are no onboard IDE or SATA controllers, so once the drive dies you're in for a wallet hit. Same goes for the floppy drive which is integrated with the DVDROM. Even worse, the presence of the broken floppy usually means a USB floppy drive won't help when loading windows drivers at install time.

Toshiba satellite dvd-DOM driver not working - re: your reply

Try this first. put the Windows CD in the computer then restart your computer. If the selection comes up PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD then that means the CDROM still works. If it does not then that means your DVDROM is indeed defective. A simple option that you can do is order a DVDROM from the manufacturer. Its only held together by 2 screws so its easy to replace. So you dont have to reload windows.

Also check your BIOS. When you turn on the computer an option for SETUP is there go into setup and see if the DVDROM is still detected.

The bios files i downloaded for pcsx29.4 now it stars i had rocatd the memory card but how to start the game

I would advise that you do not load them from DVD. I have had poor luck because of the driver in PCSX2 that runs the DVD rom drive. It's not fast emulation. If you know how to do so I would suggest you make an ISO of the game and place it on your computer then go into PCSX's configuration menu and go to CD/DVDROM and use the ISO loader . What this will do is it emulates a CD/DVDROM drive and will load any ISO you tell it to. I'm sure you can see the advantage of doing this. It will speed up the game play and emulation by a very large margine because it will read off your hard drive instead of your CD/DVDROM. 7600 RPM is much faster then any CD/DVDROM drive.

The next thing you NEED TO DO is to go to this page and make sure the game you are trying to play will even work with the PS2 emulator. Keep in mind nothing is 100% perfect and some games will not even load period or will have issues. SO check this list .::HERE::. either type your game name into the search engine or click the letter that your game starts with. ALWAYS check this list when you're trying new games. Some games have had known graphical errors or menu problems. So make sure you check this list first cuz it will help save you some frustration when trying to get games to load.
