Question about Kenwood KDC-MP238 CD Player
The Protect message means that the player has identified a short circuit in the wiring to the unit or that a wire is touching the chassis of the car. You need to check the wiring and either rewire the unit or insulate the wire(s) to fix the problem. Then press the Reset button (below and to the left of the volume knob). If the error doesn't clear, you need to contact a service center because the short is inside the player itself.
The manual for the KCD-MP238 is available here: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/Global/Consumer/Manuals/kdcmp238.pdf .
I hope this helps.
