I have an old Super 754, but do not have the manual, what are the beginning settings for the carb, i.e. high, low and run? And where can I find a manual, or the location of the ignition module, points and condenser. Thank you

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The chain saw carb setting should be 1.5 turns furn just closed to start your adjustments. Once you establish a good idle... adjust the L setting until the engine does not hesitate or stall when you mash the throttle. After adjusting the L setting... run the saw up to full speed and adjust the H screw until it is at max RPM then open the H jet CCW about the width of a screwdriver blade more so that it is slightly rich but will not miss under a cutting load. Location of the points and condenser are under the flywheel. I do not remember if the coil is under or external to the flywheel. Folling the spark plug wire back will anser that question quickly. This chainsaw uses a magnet in the flywheel to generate coil ignition. If you don't have spark clean the old point contacts and replace the condenser only. After replacing the condenser you still do not have spark start looking for chaffed spots on the kill switch wire or corrosion in the kill switch area.

If this unit has sat idle for a long time... the carb will need a diaphragm and gasket. I think your carb is an HL-159A and you should be able to order carb parts on-line. If you want me to look for your carb parts I will need the numbers off of your carb.

As far as parts your best bet would be to contact these folks:
http://www.andersonchainsaw.com/CHAINSAW-LISTING-FOR-PARTS.html
and contact them using this link:

If you search e-bay there are parts lists out there for the Super 754 listed at $0.99

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Carburetor is probably gummed up with old gas. Try putting carb cleaner through it, let it soak for a few hours and try again with new gas/oil mix. Always drain and run dry when finished using it.

Homelike chainsaw carb settings high/low

Hi, most chainsaws start with carb settings at 1&1/4 turns out( hi+lo) usually once the chainsaw has been run in, the 'hi' screw can be turned in an eighth, tickover set low enough not to cut out but high enough not to engage the clutch, cheers Billy

Most of carburetor has three buttons to adjust. L (low), H (high) for fuel injection at low and high speeds. There is also a minimum (the chain must be stationary if it is well tuned). The chainsaw is set at low rpm throttle with screws ( L ), and its vivacity is set at high speeds ( H screw ). In the beginning is good put both to set at 1.5 turns from full closure. And then, if the chainsaw starts, you can adjust a carburetor work. Careful with adjusting with H due to high speed.

Low and high speed fuel jet settings for McCullah powermac 145

Can't find the manual right off hand for a 145 for some reason....but...
The wahlbro carbs are 3/4 out from lightly seated on high and low speed screws. The zamas are 1 1/4 turns. Some zamas have no high speed needle.
Anyway if set the high and low speed needles for about 1 turn that will get you running and allow tuning from there.
Take care.

Carb settings mixture jets on a homelite weedeater st155

ther is no set setting but to get it to run so it can be adjusted. lightly close the high off then open the low about two turns. try to start if starts slowly adust the low screw till it runs normal with the choke all the way off. then start to add throttle while turning the high out till regiured rpms ar reached with no misses. this takes awhile even fo a seasoned mech and may require several attempts

No top end power

Have a set of really small screwdivers ready. First, make certain the saw hasn't set up a season and gotten all gunked up. If it has, take off the air filter and wash the carb out with carb spray cleaner. You may have to replaces all the fuel lines. Once it has fresh gas in it, and you can smell the fresh gas by pumping the bulb til the shellac smell is gone, take off the air cleaner and fire it up, even if you have to use starter fluid spraying a shot into the carb. (You'll probably need a new plug by now).

When it starts to run, hold it at high throttle and adjust the high speed mixture screw to the right until it smooths out, or if it gets worse, to the left. Once it runs smoothly, keep turning til it begins to stutter, then turn back a half turn.

After you get it to run ok at high speed, you'll need to adjust the low speed until it starts and revs up quickly.

Mower not running at set speed, choking

you should have an air/fuel mixture screw on the carb somewhere. Start the engine and turn it one way then the other a small amount at a time. One way it will get worse and one way it will get better. Keep turning till it smooths out
