Several things could be happening here:
1. your electronic controller in the hard case has failed.
2. you didn't properly disconnect the external hard drive in Windows > with the
"Safely Remove Hard ware and eject Media" in the task bar.
3. if you have a power supply to the USB drive it may have a damaged power connector or not supply proper power to the device.
4. the drive may not be supported by the motherboard for your PC.

Samsung Intensity: How to avoid the voice recognition prompt

The Samsung Intensity has many nice features. It comes equipped with voice recognition software, which many people like. However, for others it is merely annoying. If you keep your phone in your pocket or purse, you might hear a muffled voice saying "Please say a command" from time to time as the phone's voice recognition button is bumped.

Fortunately, you can disable this voice prompt (if you want to) with just a few simple steps:

1. Press the voice recognition button on the upper right hand side of the phone.
2. Press the right options button to go to the Settings.
3. Select Prompts (#5).
4. Select Mode (#1).
5. Select Tones Only (the last choice).
6. Hit OK to save the change.

Now, when you accidentally bump that button, you'll just hear a short single tone, rather than the voice prompt.

If you want to reduce the volume for the voice recognition (either for the voice prompt or for the tone) that can be done easily as well. Follow the steps above to get to the Prompts menu, and select Audio playback (choice #2). Highlight the choice for Earpiece, and hit OK to save your choice.

The voice recognition function will now use the earpiece to play any sounds, rather than the speakerphone, so whether you set it for a voice prompt or a tone, the sound will be much quieter and hopefully you won't even notice it.

You can also lock the phone when you're not using it, which will disable the voice recognition button so you don't have to worry about bumping it. To lock your phone, just hold down the zero (0) key for two seconds. You'll see a message on the screen that the phone is now locked.

I have Samsung HXMU050DA Portable HDD. My Notebook is feel it, but the Files nothing. "Your Hard Drive is Not formatted! Please formatting now?". I would like to Not lose My Files and datas....

If it asks to format the drive one of two things is most probably
  • The hard drive comes with software used to unlock the drive. If yes run the software and unlock it. If no next...
  • The file system is damaged. You can try repairing the file system by the following
  1. Open a command prompt (Windows key), type cmd
  2. type the following without the quotes "chkdsk [volume] /f" replace [volume] with the drive letter followed by a : so if Im checking drive E then it would be chkdsk E: /f
  3. If your running windows vista or 7 you will need to replace step 1 with (press window key), type comm and right click on command prompt and select "Run as Administrator", click yes.
  4. If you still can't get into the drive then you will need to either format it or just replace it as it is probably failing
You can download this http://www.ntfs.com/disk-monitor.htm and test the hard drives health to help you make a decision of whether or not to replace

Is there a way to disable the voice recognition button on my Samsung intensity??? Whenever I go to slide it, I hit the button, and my phone talks, even when i hav the volume on vibrate only.

I have the same problem with my Intensity every time I keep it in my pocket. Unfortunately, you can't disable the voice recognition function completely, but you can make it more managable.

You can get rid of the voice that says "Please say a command" when you hit the voice recognition button, and instead make it just a single tone by following these steps:

- Hit the voice recognition button on the side of the phone
- Press the right option button to go to the Settings
- Go to #5, Prompts
- Select Mode
- Select Tones Only (the last option)
- Hit OK

You can also reduce the volume by changing the output from the speakerphone to the ear piece, to make it quieter. Go to the Prompts menu like you did above, and select #2, Audio playback. Set it to "earpiece" and hit OK.

Now, when you accidentally hit that button, the phone will just emit a short tone that you probably won't even hear. Hope that helps!
