I had exact problem with a similar model.Mine was about 8 months old. I could have ordered a replacement seal but it would have done the same thing after a few months (according to the shop where I buy/order anything that runs on electricity, most anyways). I opted paying a few extra bucks and bought a seal(not made by Maytag but they sell replacement parts that fit). Mines been fine ever since(no black marks left after high temp washing, etc) Following is a link that my guy orders from but you'll have to check and see if they have one to fit your model.

I ordered the seal today and we will change it tomorow. I hope it will work. My old mayteg laster 13-15 years and never had problem. This one I have to wash the dishes before I put in. It is very disapointing!!!

Your ICE MAKER may be blocked in some way [CLEAN water inlet lines &/or replace the in-line FILTER] OR the THERMOSTAT could be faulty [in an older unit]. Check all in-line water pipe connections for leaks AND/OR damage from any rodents you may have had in your home. This is particularly prevalent in tropical areas and when inlet lines are made from any type of nylon/plastic material. ALSO check your DOOR SEALS as this will sometimes cause this type of problem. It is also possible that the INSULATION in your older unit may be breaking down [you will notice moisture/"sweating" on the outer case surfaces which would indicate this type of fault].

The seal at the bottom of the door is a splash seal only. The only seal that does the real work is the big thick one around the sides and top.
That said, you can buy them from your electrolux parts shop.
If in Aus you call 131350 for the closest one.

It is easy to fix yourself, just unscrew the little screws around the inner edge of the door to remove the front panel. Do this while door is still on, you do not remove the whole door.

Also, be careful not to cut yourself. The inner and outer panel edges are extremely sharp.

Dishes not cleaning after full cycle running

Your screens are plugged with food residue in the bottom of the unit. clean it out. You can use 1 gallon of white vinegar for your wash after you clean the screens. Start your washer to fill with water but after the water starts, open your door and pore all of the gallon in the unit. Let it now run for 4 minutes and stop it by opening the door. Leave the door slightly open for 1 hour. close the door and let the cycle continue for 4 more minutes. open the door and repeat it a couple of more times. Let it sit all night with the vinegar in it and in the morning - close the door and let the cycle continue to the end. This should help soften and clean out the food particles in the unit. You can repeat the process and get a better cleaning then too. All the scale should be off your dishes now.

Making and dropping ice, but not retaining ice...evidently melting...feels cold, but no accumulation. Is the white tube hanging down supposed to be connected to the drain line in the bottom?

yes to drain line. Clean the condensor and evaporator first. Check the spray jets to see it they are clogged. There is a screen on the inlet water valve as well. Check door seals and cabinet tight.

All else fails look for oil around the hot gas valve.

Black residue is getting all over clothing, every load. what is the problem? it's almost like some sort of shavings like off a piece of rubber or something. could it be a seal or something breaking...

Try checking the gaskets where the hoses connect to the water supply and the washer, I have found when they start breaking down they can sometimes almost melt onto the clothes.

Water coming out the door while it's running.

could be a few differnt problems. first open door and check bottom of dish if it has a gasket down their or around door inspect it. door seals and on some models btm seals are common to go bad. also make sure a long pan is up on the front to close to door causing water to be splashed . should place al pans and plates frt to back not side to side, also lookat btm wash arm, if holes are plugged with food or the wash arm is broken or melted the water will hit the frt of the door too hard and cause it too leak. worse case scenario the door inner may need to be replaced.
