The screen will not light up, so i cant see anything when i turn my phone on. it is a sony ericsson w508a

Do you think you may have gotten your phone wet? It may have gotten wet without you even realizing. Check the moisture indicator on the battery. Turn off the phone and remove the battery. Check the moisture indicator located next to the battery connectors. The indicator should be white; if it is red, the battery is damaged. I would recommend that you contact your cell phone service provider. They might be able to further assist you. I would also recommend that you remove the battery and let your phone dry out for a couple of days. I would let your phone dry before you turn it on, or it could cause further damage.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Phone just wont switch on. seems dead

Assuming that you didn't do anything to kill the phone (drop it too much, get it wet, use it as a doorstop), it could be an issue with the connection between the battery and the phone.
  1. Remove battery.
  2. Using a normal pencil eraser, rub the gold terminals on both the battery and the phone.
  3. Rub the terminals with a cloth to remove any debris.
  4. Try turning the phone on.
If this doesn't work it may be that the battery is dead or the phone is dead. If it's the battery it can be replaced. To check if the phone or battery have gotten wet, look for a small patch of paper on the battery or the phone. Typically this paper will turn from white to pink if liquid comes in contact with it (this is how the cell phone company knows if you got your phone wet when you bring it in broken). If it is pink, most likely the phone is completely dead and not fixable.

I have an lg vu and i havent ever dropped it or gotten it wet or anything and the touch screen just quit working. i still get all my messages and i can recieve calls and the buttons on the phone work but...

This is a problem with many touch screens. Please contact your Carrier(AT&T, Verizon, etc) and they will charge you 50$ or nothing for a replacement

On off does not work dampness on battery

First thing is be sure that the battery is charged and not dead.

2nd hold down the on/off siwtch a little longer and see what happens.

if you have a wall outlet, or charger for it plug that in and then try turning it on, if it comes on then its your battery.

remove the battery and make sure its dry, and clean and blow around where your phone battery sits. Make sure its clean (dont use any liquid here, just blow).
Then replace the battery and the back cover and make sure the battery is connecting.

if it still dont work then sounds like your phone may have gotten wet some how.

look near or under the battery you should see a white or red/pink sticker.

if the sticker is white the phone has gotten wet, and prob has shorted out. Even if its not pink/red then the phone itself didn't get wet, but if you recently had the phone in the bathroom when you took a shower ect. its still possible the condensation from the shower got inside and shorted your phone out.

Your last and final step would be making a insurance claim on your phone if you have phone insurance.
(as long as the sticker isnt red or pink)

Taking it back to where you bought it if you havnt had it very long,

or getting a new one, either by updating your contract if your eligible, using an old cell if you have one, or buying a new one.

please rate and recommend me if this has been helpful.

VOICE RECORD

Sounds like the phone may have gotten wet.

Check behind the battery, there is a white sticker that turns RED if its gotten wet.

Otherwise, there may be a short in the keyboard.

It may need to be replaced.

Best of Luck.
