Question about Toshiba TDP XP2 DLP Projector

1 Answer

My Toshiba XP2 picture quality was fine until I changed sources. Now it has a blue line at the top and the whole picture has horizontal lines.

I have changed the RCA cables and then even changed from a RCA video cable to an S-video and the problem still persists. I am running cables from a multi-media switcher where the DVD and VCR and Wii, etc. It started when I switched the box slowly and had two signals at the same time. Thinking it was the switch box I went and got a new one. then changed the cables and still no change.

Welcome to Fixya. If you have blue and horizontal lines on the picture is it possible to change the cables that you are using to check if the problem is caused by the cable?

Hi - If you just use the projector to a single device not using the multimedia switcher for example on your pc, do you still have the blue lines? If none then the problem is caused when you connect it to the switcher. If there still a blue line then mostlikely the problem is the projector.

Fred - if you still have a blue lines even connected to a single device the problem is that hardware of the projector. - Thanks

My picture is doubled on my toshiba TN50V71 as if there is a shadow behind everything? Please help!

hi, sounds like a convergence issue. try this...
  • Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.

  • Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  • Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  • Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  • Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  • Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  • Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  • Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  • Repeat these steps for all colors.
    good luck!

I am getting horizontal lines on the printed page. the quality of the print if fine for the exception of the three horizontal lines. The first line is about one inch from the top of the page, the second...

Regularly spaced horizontal lines suggest that there is a defect on the drum in the printer. I would suggest changing the drum to see if that will fix the problem.

    Horizontal blue line

The intermittent horizontal line is cause by a loose solder connection in the vertical amplifier IC.
The IC is mounted on a heatsink nearby or around the flyback transformer.
The way to fix this failure is to add fresh solder where you see some brown spots on the circuitry that were cause by components getting hot.
    Good Luck.
