Most drills with the keyless chuck work this way. Put the drill into reverse. Grasp the chuck with your left hand, and then pull the switch slowly. This should release the chuck. If your drill has no reverse, then grasp the chuck again with your left hand and hold the drill with your right hand. Turn the chuck with your left hand quickly, this should release the drill as well.

I suggest that you do not proceed, Keyless chucks can be problematic especially if dust /debris from material being drilled gets into the chuck. I have had to remove the Keyless chuck from my B&D drill and replace it with a keyed chuck- no problems since.

How can I replace the keyless chuck on my Dewalt DWD215G?
Open the chuck wide open. In the center is a retaining screw, they usually have left hand threads. Remove the screw. Take an allen wrench1/4" to 3/8" in size and fasten the short side tightly in the chuck. The chucks are usually right hand thread, so take a small hammer and strike the allen wrench to turn the chuck to the left to loosen it. Once you have the chuck off, verify the thread size of the drill motor shaft, then go to McMaster-Carr and choose the one you need.

New keyless chuck for panasonic drill ey690
Can'y find anything with the model number furnished, but generally to replace a chuck on a cordless you first have to remove the chuck screw LH threads and then shift the tool to the LOW position and the clutch to the drill only. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the same size as the chuck capacity and lock the smaller end in the jaws. Put the chuck on a work bench or block of wood with the handle at about a 30 degree angle so that you will be striking the wrench in the counter clockwise position, you might have to hit it a couple time but it will come off

How do I change the chuck on a 5 amp skil drill. It is keyless.
If it's anything like their other drills, there is a safety screw with left-hand threads inside chuck.

  1. Turn it clockwise until loose.
  2. Then insert the short arm of a 3/8" hex wrench and tighten.
  3. Strike long arm of wrench sharply counter-clockwise and chuck should loosen to unthread from spindle.

In continuation after removing the chuck screw which is left hand thread shift the drill to LOW and use a bent handle allen wrench approx the size of the chuck lock it in the jaws.
