Question about Saeco Starbucks Sirena Espresso Machine

1 Answer

My Barista shows no activity when the start switch is depressed, no light, no boiler warm up noises. It acts like it's not plugged in but the pump works just no activity in the boiler. No burnt smell or signs of a short.

    Hi,

I assume that when you say heater, you are referring to the boiler.

Also, do you know where I can order parts?

    Thanks for the help,

    Frank

If the boiler does not give any sign of working ..it is in most cases the heater to blame ...So check it ..and change it if it is the case ...(it may be just a disconnected wire from a physical shock )..cause the boiler is nothing else but a can with an electric heater ..and the heating unit is the only thing that can be gone bad ...

Starbucks Barista (Saeco) Espresso machine Quit pumping

Hi
If it makes a noise when you turn the brew switch on you may have a blockage in the out let line. If it doesn't make a noise but every so often you may have a bad pump.

This is a cold boiler problem.
There are several reasons for a cold boiler...boiler element is open, no power to the boiler element, thermostat is not functioning properly, or it could even be a board problem not delivering voltage to the boiler.
First start by opening the top and reseating all connectors on the board, if this does not help then you will have to extract the insides of the machine from the case to get at any of the boiler and thermostat hardware.
Start by removing the 1 screw holding the inside workings to the outer case. This is located on the right top side of the machine beside the grinder.
Use great caution while pulling the guts out of the case and watch the dredge drawer switch does not hang-up on the case. Snake the power cord through the bottom of the case while pulling the inner workings out of the case.
There are 2 elements in the boiler check them both for a resistance (they will not be the same resistance) if either are open then then replace the boiler. Check the thermostat on the back of the boiler for resistance, if open or shorted, then replace. Check thermal breaker on boiler, this should be shorted if not, reset it by pressing the button in the center of the breaker.
If none of this works then you will have to depress dredge drawer switch front door switch and insert the brew group to depress the brew group switch, plug in the unit and turn it on.
Check for voltage on the elements on the boiler.
If no voltage then check all connections.
If you have gotten this far there is a good chance it is the board fault and it will need to be replaced.
Be shure to label all connections to the mother board as there are several connectors that can be placed in the wrong position while reassembling.
NOTE: This depth of trouble shooting should only be attemted if you are completely comfortable with electrical/electronic repair.

Riello oil burner RDB with red plastic cover at the front wont ignite. I've tried bleeding the valve. The motor seems to make an electrical humming noise for about 12 secs, then the system attempts to...

The motor should spin when the boiler is switched on. One end of the motor spins the fan the other end works the pump. The control box then starts the transformer that starts a spark. The control box then opens up the oil. The boiler should then light if any of the above or the boiler does not light, the boiler will go to lockout.
From what you say the motor is not spinning, thus it could be the motor or more like the pump.

YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY WITHE THE PUMP

If the wrong setting is made it could 1 burn out the back of your boiler 2 go to soot and the boilers in an hour would be filled up and become a fire risk. 3 not start at all if the setting is too low it is a fine line to get it to work and needs the right tools.

regards
oil eng.

Hmmm. It doesn't sound like a boiler problem. The heating element is controlled by a pressure or temperature switch. Either the switch is poorly connected or malfunctioning. Temp. switches are directly on the boiler with wires that go to a relay connected to the heating element. Pressure switches just have a tube connected to the boiler with wires to the relay.

Good luck!

when you said "I can run a wash", does the machine act normal for that time frame up to the point of drain? if yes, the pump is fine. sounds more like the micro chip on the board is "confused", but not sure why.
