You might be taking about the modem Admin password. Not the actual passphrase. Please provide us with the following information:
-ISP: -Brand and model of your Router: -Operating System:

Make sure your passkey is correct. Your work router may be restricted also or may not support your device.

Passkey

This is a DSL router. This would normally be connected to your DSL provider.
If you are only looking for your router password. The default one is username: adminpassword: [leave blank]If the default one has been changed, then you would need to reset the router. press and hold the reset button to do this.DO NOT RESET YOUR ROUTER IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHICH PASSKEY YOU NEED.
If you need the password of your DSL connection, then you can find this on the welcome letter they gave you. if yo no longer have access to this, then contact your DSL service contact support and they will provide you with your missing information.

Can't use wireless due to possibly forgot password.

If you do not have the Network SSID and Passkey, you will need to logon to your Router (via a cable connection) as an administrator to get the information from the Wireless Security setup screen.

The other way, would be to look at another PC/LAPTOP/SMARTPHONE which can connect to this Router and look at the Wireless Setup SSID , Encription (WEP or WPA or WPA2, etc) and Passkey. Passkey is normally not displayed but there is usually an option to 'display the characters'.

Hope it helps and good luck!

I have forgot my passkey for others to connect wireless - how can I change the passkey?

So you've lost the password that you set up for your linksys router and no one remembers it. Generally you can do two things. Buy a new wireless router or you can reset the router to it's factory default and then save the password before you forget again.

How do I find my Network Key..or Password

If you forgot or do not know teh network / passkey of your wireless router you have to follow the following procedure to know the password (i am assuming that you have windows)

1. Connect your router directly to your computer (disconnect your cable / DSL internet from the router)
2. Use the Switch ports (ports marked 1 to 4 to connect to your computer / Do not use the internet port or WAN port in your router to connect to the computer)
3. Open command prompt (Start - Run - Type CMD and hit enter
4. Type IPCONFIG and hit enter. (not down the numbers next to Default gateway (it should be in the format 192.168.1.1 etc).
5. Type exit and hit enter
6. Open the internet explorer and type the default gateway you noted and hit enter
7. You should get a small popup asking for username & password - type
admin (username)
password (password) if this does not work (type admin for password also)

if this username and password does not work then you need to reset the router. (Please refer to the manual for this process)

8. if the username & password works you should be able to access the router page, then you need to click on wireless settings on the router page and then know or change your wireless passkey.

Please reply to the post if you need further assistance.

Start Internet Explorer OR firefox - type in the address of your router (usually 192.168.0.1)

Put in the username and password (Usually admin for the user - password will be what you set it as OR the default "pass" or "admin".

Goto the wireless section. Choose either WEP or WAP. Generate a random passkey (make a note of this). Then click on apply or save. Close the screen and re-connect to the wireless network with the new key,

I need help keeping my neighbors from using my wifi and others.

You will need to turn on the WPA or WEP security encryption on your router. You can get to the router settings by using a computer connected directly to the router using a lan cable. You will need to use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 on your internet browser. This will take you to a screen asking for a user name and password. The default setting is nothing for the username and password is "admin". From there you can turn on the WEP or WPA encryption and create a passkey. Then each computer will need to have the passkey stored to gain connection to the router. This will also keep anyone else from connecting to your router without the passkey. And make sure to change the user name and password for your router so no one can change the settings on it.
