Question about Hotpoint 24 in. DF55 Free-standing Dishwasher

1 Answer

I live in an appartment and have a hotpoint dishwasher. This dishwasher is leaving undissolved soap as well as food particles on glasses. I had our maintenace man come by to look at it and when I asked him what temperature this unit got up to he stated 120 degrees. After doing a little research I found that 140 degrees is recommended in order to sanitize the dishes. Not sure what what to do...I have an 18 month old and an a little concerned...should I be?

First you might want to call the main office (skip the maint.man) and explain the situation(specifically about your child and the temp). Maint.men tend to try and fix things with the most inexpensive option, usually at the request from owner/manager. Your d-washer probably needs either a new thermostat or heating element. The incoming hot water temperature can also be raised by raising the temp. on your hot water tank but I wouldn't recommend this because of possible burn injuries to any children (or adults for that matter. Remember, as a renter you are not responsible for this type of problem. Believe me your going to be glad you did when you try and get your deposit back.Good Luck.

How to remove large food particle trap in a electrolux dishwasher model # EWDW6505GBO

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you want to know how to remove large food particles that are trapped in your Electrolux dishwasher, model# EWDW6505GB0. First, I would suggest that you scrape away large pieces of food before putting any dish in your dishwasher.

Your dishwasher is equipped with a state of the art wash system. Periodically, the Glass Trap Filter and Large Food Particle Trap may need to be cleaned to maximize wash performance. The Glass Trap Filter is located in the center of the Large Food Particle Trap. The Glass Trap Filter is designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, bones and pits. To remove items in the Glass Trap Filter, grasp the handle, lift out, empty and replace. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Recent changes in the law prevent soap makers from putting phosphates in dishwasher soap so they're not as effective as the were even a few months ago.  Unfortunately,  the solution is more thorough rinsing before loading.

We recently bought a LG 7920ST stainless steel dishwasher. It doesn't properly was the dishes. Leaves food stuck on and doesn't clean the top rack at all. In fact, the glasses are dirtier afterward then...

we had the same problem with a new dishwasher. The repair man told us that the liquid soap would froth too much and not fully rinse out of the system. So the food particles stayed in the trap and wouldn't rinse away. Also the drain hose needs to be looped up to the top of the dishwasher or ran directly down to drain so the wash water doesn't just drain back into the dishwasher. Also check you top rack water jets to see if there are food particles which move into the holes and block the water flow on that level. Hope this helps :-)

Dishwasher leaves food particles on dishes

You are not getting enough water in the machine. The inlet valve is probably plugged with sand or something of the sort. You will need to replace the inlet valve.

My maytag dishwasher is not getting all the food particles off

I recommend check the following areas to address this issue.

Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

Kenmore elite dishwasher leaves food particles on dishes

If someone is putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams that would cause food to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets make sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.

Particle residue on glasses in top basket for glasses at the corners

The oldest dishwasher I have replaced was a Kithcenaid installed in 1953. It was a 24" built in with a smaller door, a handle looked like it was for a safe, and it had an s-trap underneath. The 90 year old customer said it did the same thing. My advice is to run a dishwasher cleaner through a hot cycle according to manufacturers directions. Check the holes in the spray arms carefully for any debris. Our service guys advise not to use gel or liquid type soap as it leaves a tiny residue after each load which will eventually clog your internal plumbing. Always use the least amount of soap you can get away with and POWDER is prefered.

Maytag dishwasher quiet series 400. Dishes have hard stuck on grit and food particles after rinsed and dried.

Very common problem is soap build up in these machines. Try putting it into a wash cycle with no dishes, and no soap. Let it wash for about 5 minutes, and then open the door. If you see alot of soap suds, then soap build up is the problem. Try doing a couple loads with no soap, and no dishes, and throw a cup of vinegar into the machine halfway through the wash. Repeat as necessary. This should solve your problem.
