Question about Respironics Health & Beauty

My 3 yr old Respironics CPAP has stopped putting out the pressure it is supposed to. Still works and still show 12.5 Lb - but is 1/2 as strong - maybe less.

Your Respiratory Therapist (RP) should have set your pressure for your needs. Zameer Pasha is correct in that you might have a long ramp-up period with lower pressures until the end of the ramp-up period at which time the pressure should be 12.5 and feel as strong as you remember.

There is also a possibility that the filter is dirty or the air inlet hole is clogged. Check the filter and the hole. Also check hoses and masks for leaks. If your CPAP was initially set up to use a slim-line hose and you have switched to the regular hose which has a larger diameter, the pressure may seem lower however if your mask fits properly and doesn't leak, this will not make a difference in the functioning and data charting functions of your machine.

Not sure which Respironics machine you are using. The Resmed Series including the S9 allow the RPt to change setting. I recommend you contact your RP to do this.

If you decide to do this on your own:

  1. Press the Setup button and the Push Dial (see first image below) for 3 seconds.
  2. Turn the Push Dial until you see the Options Screen (see second image below).
  3. Press the Push Dial once to select the Option Screen.
  4. Turn the Push Dial until Set Pressure is highlighted in blue.
  5. Press the Push Dial once. The highlight should now be orange.
  6. Press the Push Dial once. The selection should change from orange to blue.
  7. If finished, turn the Push Dial until <<Home is selected. Press Push Dial once.
  8. Done!

If have pressure gauge u can check that if your using a manual machine the pressure will be constant as the set pressure is 12.5 and there will be ramp which will start with lower pressure and reach to 12.5 as per the set timings and if you are using a automatic mcahine no need to worry.

If this is on a CPAP machine, I would not attempt to adjust this myself! The dealer where you got this from would be able to adjust this if it is needed.

I have a code E-35

Just so you know there is a recall on this and may end up with a new one... read below
Respironics, the manufacturer of the Respironics REMstar Heated Humidifier, has received complaints of failures of the AC inlet connector on the REMstar Heated Humidifiers manufactured between December 2001 and April 2003. A small number of these failures have resulted in thermal damage to the humidifier enclosure, and there is a remote possibility that a thermal failure could result in the ignition of materials external to the device. For this reason, Respironics is asking that you remove the humidifier from its power source. You may continue using your CPAP device.

Respironics has decided to take voluntary action to mitigate the risk of failure. This action includes only the model 1005792, U1005792, R1005792, SC1005792, AC1005792, and 1007861.
This voluntary action is classified as a medical device recall, and is being conducted with the knowledge of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

WHAT TO DO:
Call Stericycle, Inc at 877-574-5038 or 317-275-7667.

The other end of the elbow will not fit into the tubing. Do I need to take the plastic piece off?

There should be a clear plastic end on the mask tubing. This fits inside of the white rubbery tubing that fits onto the machine. It is a tight fit the first time or two you put it on.Try sliding it in one side at a time.

How do you know which CPAP snoring masks are best for you?

FOR ME I HAD TO HAVE A SLEEP STUDY DONE. IT IS A 2 DAY PROCESS. THEY HOOK UP ALL SORTS OF PROBS ON YOU AND MONITOR YOUR BREATHING. THE TEST WILL SHOW HOW MANY TIMES YOU STOP BREATHING. THEN YOU GO IN ON ANOTHER DAY AND THEY TRY DIFFERENT MASK DURING THE STUDY. ONCE YOU GET ACCUSTOM TO IT THEY MONITOR YOUR SLEEP AGAIN. THIS TIME, IF IT WORKS, YOU SLEEP THE REST OF THE NIGHT. FOR ME IT WAS WORTH IT.
