There is not a native Windows 7 driver for your printer. HP suggests you use the driver for the HP Deskjet 660c, which is available through Windows Update.
To install the driver:

  • If the USB cable is connected to the printer, disconnect it.
  • Open your Start Menu, and then click Devices and Printers.
  • Choose Add a printer, then dd a local printer, then use an existing port.
  • Select LPT1: (Printer Port) from the drop-down list, and then click Next.
  • Under Manufacturer, click HP.
  • Under Printers, select Deskjet 660c, and then click Next. You may have to click the Windows Update button to select additional print drivers.
  • Type a name for the printer and then click Next.
  • After the print driver completes the installation process, click Finished and reconnect the USB cable.
  • A window that says Device driver software was not successfully installed will probably open. Close that window.
  • Configure the driver by going back to the Devices and Printers window and right-clicking the name of the printer and selecting Printer Properties.
  • Click the Ports tab, then click the drop down menu, and change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4. If there is more than one USB/DOT4 port available, select the USB/DOT4 port with the highest port number. To see the full port name, widen the ports row in the Properties dialog box by placing the cursor over the vertical line between Port and Description, and then click and hold the mouse button. Move the mouse to the right until the port name is visible.
  • Click OK.

Thats quite an old printer, it should work with a generic printer driver for basic text printing, otherwise try some of windows 7s built in HP injet drivers. I doubt you will find a specific windows 7 driver for this model, its out of support life

Won't communicate with windows 7 laptop. I have a dell inspiron laptop. Printer works with HP netbook, but not with laptop??

Use the Vista driver in Windows 7. Check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. Then, download the Lexmark Z600 driver at http://bit.ly/cd4MzI(for 32-bit) or at http://bit.ly/c4xCtN(for 64-bit). Execute the file and follow the instructions in the software. Thanks.

I suggest not to plug the printer to your computer yet. Check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start button > right click on Computer > Properties. Now, there's no Lexmark X1190 driver specific for Windows 7, however, the Vista drivers work. Download the software using this link: http://bit.ly/bKDAsg (for 32-bit) or this link: http://bit.ly/a8i081 (for 64-bit). Install the software. Follow the instructions on the software. Hope this helps.

I just got a laptop with windows 7 and I want to use my Lexmark X7170 as its printer.\r\nI installed the disc with the laptop attached, etc and it does not work.

I hope you got it working now. If not, disconnect the printer from the computer and leave it disconnected for the meantime. Uninstall the Lexmark software by clicking on the Windows logo Start button > Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Then restart the computer. Once the computer's back on, check if the Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit by clicking on the Windows logo Start button > right click on Computer > Properties.
There are no Lexmark X7170 drivers specific for Windows 7, however, the Vista drivers work. To reinstall, click on this link: http://bit.ly/bzobPB (for 32-bit) or this link: http://bit.ly/c0u0fA (for 64-bit). Then download and install the software. Follow the instructions on the software. Hope this helps.

Can't get the printer to connect to my laptop. Blinking red light only. New hp G61 Windows 7. Can't find device.

I presume your printer is the Lexmark X6570 since your post is under this model. Hope you got it working now. If not, unplug the printer from your computer, then you have to reset the printer's network adapter first. To do that, press Settings on the printer > Network Setup > Wireless Setup > Reset Network Adapter to Factory Defaults. Wifi light will momentarily turn off then lights up solid orange. Then, install the printer software. I suggest you use the updated software from the Lexmark website. But check if you're Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. For the software, click on this link: http://bit.ly/ceCRRC (for 32-bit) or http://bit.ly/9zdsT4 (for 64-bit). Download and install the software. Follow the instructions. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

Hi,
you will need to install the printer software compatible for windows 7 available in the manufacturer's website for download. Check the version of your operating system if you have 64-bit or 32-bit OS. To check go to start > right click computer > click properties. Download the proper driver package by going to this link : http://bit.ly/dq2FVh . Click on Microsoft tab. Download cjq3500-4500Win7en.exe for 64-bit or cjb3500-4500Win7en.exe for 32-bit. Install the software. Hope this helps.
