SOURCE: Shower goes hot and cold
If you are having trouble only at the one fixture (shower), and no where else, the problem is most likely in the shower valve...which either needs new cartridges, or a complete replacement.
hope this helps

SOURCE: Shower problem
This must be a joke because there is no way the shower is connected to your faucet. the faucet on you vanity is connected directly to your hot and cold water supply. And only by opening the hot water side of the faucet can you get any hot water.out of the faucet.

Chances are that the thermostatic motor or element is failing and probably needs to be replaced. It will be necessary to turn off the water (hot and cold) to the shower valve, remove the handle, maybe the decorative plate (will depend on your model), then remove the valve assembly. If it's a cartridge, you willl need to remove the center clip and pulll the unit out with a pair of pliers. They do make a removal tool, but you may not need it. If the valve is a flange type, you will probably need to remove three to four screws and then genetly pry the valve out of its mounting. With this type of valve, there may be an "O" ring around the assembly that should be replaced so keep that in mind.
Some thermostatic valves can be repaired by replacing their individual components. Again, it will depend on your model.
Take the assembly to your local hardware or home improvement center along with as much information as you can, and have them match up the part(s).
Re-assemble the valve, then turn the water on before you re-install any handles or plates and check for leaks as well as proper operation. You can just slip the handle over the valve stem to test.

if the water is that hot then lower [adjust] the temp of your hot water heater -if need to adjust the shower you can adjust the mixing by removing the handle and on the valve stem are the adjusting clips the red [hot] and blue [cold]plastic clips can move them around to adjust the mixing of hot and cold water
