My SGH-1450 mobile phone is 3yrs old..but recently it has started hanging..no response of presing any key ..and even the only way to shut it down is to open the battery...!!! pls help

it must still be running on old version of the firmware. Please visit the Service center and get the firmware upgraded as Samsung does not permit users to do it over the internet.
When you get a 'Limited Service' it usually indicates a problem with your SIM (check with Mobile Supplier) that is not fully acceptable to the network you are trying to use (is it a new SIM that needs activation? is your handset 'network locked'?). You also get this message if you are in an area not fully serviced by your SIM mobile service provider. Hope the information is useful: let me know how you go and good luck!
I have the same problem of late. Happens with my new battery (from Samsung) and old one that still works. Am waiting for response from samsung. In the mean time my only solution is to remoce the battery and leave it for a couple of hours then the phone does boot up normally.

If it's the SGH-D900i phone that you have... Go to Menu... Settings.... Phone settings... Slide Settings... in there you have to change the "Down" from 'Continue operation' to 'stop operation'... save and slide the phone shut, that should once again lock the keypad.
