Glad to help YOU!

That's true: in SUMMER the days are longer; but actually the days start to increase in length since December 21st until June 21st; after that they start to decrease again.

My best wishes!

The heavy duty engine fan cycles on and off whether it's 96 degrees or 79 degrees outside

I think that is supposed to happen - it is just likely the on cycle is a little longer at an ambient of 96 and the off cycle a little shorter. 79 is still very warm and high summer temperatures for many of us and would have to be much colder for the engine to lose sufficient heat naturally; without the fan cycling.

Cars with small radiators and compact lightweight engines often have the cooling fan running in a very short time from startup.

Why do overhead wires hang with a slight sag in the summertime but tightly in the wintertime?

Wires lengthen with higher temperatures. In the summer the longer wires sag, while in the winter the shorter wires are more taut.

This is the reason railroad tracks are laid out with gaps between them to allow them to expand in the heat.

Plank of wood 2 metres long. cut into two lenghts. longer piece is four times the lenght of shorter piece. how long is each lenght?

It is solved by writing an equation
If the shorter piece is y cm, then the the longer piece would be 4y which is four times the shorter length. The total of these 2 together is 2meters or 200 cm, Now write the equation (2 pieces together is 200cm)

y + 4y = 200
5y =200
y =40
Since we have taken the lengh of shorter piece as y,
Shorter piece=40 cm OR 0.4m
Longer piece =160cm OR 1.6m
I have written the steps in detail for you to understand the process
Good luck
